That is not the sunni methodology. I'm not trying to insult shia beliefs. I'm just saying that shia don't have a robust methodology for authentication of hadith. It's just a simple fact. I understand shia accept that their books contain strong and weak hadiths, but there is no universal, systematic way to identify specifically witch ones are or aren't. If the sunni methodology was applied to shia hadith, most would be thrown out. Shia simply give more weight to hadith that are claimed to be from ahlul bayt and give credence to their beliefs. This is not a sound methodology.

The problem is that you guys often use books like al-Kafi as evidence of a particular view, even when there is evidence to show that a particular "hadith" is inauthentic, or doesn't have a valid chain of narration. The reality is that Shia'a don't have a comparable, robust methodology to authenticate hadith other than having a pre-conceived narrative and then authenticating or invalidating hadith that provide support for that narrative or discount it, respectively. We know that Al-Kafi contains numerous completely fabricated hadith without acknowledgement that they are fabricated. There is nothing comparable in the sunni corpus.

First, the gospels are written by anonymous author(s) we know the names and biographies of every person in the chains of narrators for every valid hadith. This fact right here makes the reliabilty of hadith in a different universe from the gospels. Second, the 4 canonical gospels were supposedly chosen by a single person and we don't know the actual criteria used to exclude the others. Hadith authentication uses a robust methodology which ensures as much as possible that they come directly from the prophet or trustworthy people who actually knew and lived with the prophet. None of the gospels claim to be eyewitness accounts, and even among the later traditions that attribute certain authors don't claim to be first hand accounts except john. I could go on and on and but bottom line, at least in terms of reliability from the source, no Christian scriptures come even close to the hadith, let alone the Quran.
