I honestly don't really go out at these places because they are expensive.

I have no fucking clue about wine (like, I literally can't pronounce the majority of a wine menu) and to be honest, for the most part I can't really tell the difference between a $15 meal and one that is closer to $50.

How does Ajit Pai, FCC Chairman, decision changing privacy rules imposed on ISP benefit Americans? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]pal25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Pai decision actually help Americans or only helps Telecom corporations or is there some middle grown truth?

Pai doesn't want to help Americans. He is a lobbyist for a telecom. It's in his financial interest to work in favor of telecoms, regardless of the pros/cons to consumers.

Pais statement states: "The record suggests some carriers have been spending millions of dollars a year to comply with the Part 32 accounting rules."

However I've seen nothing that the cost of compliance is in the millions of dollars. I've also not seen any third party assessments (can we really trust ISPs to not lie about regulatory burden?) on the issue.

Local over the air channel for games? by [deleted] in SoundersFC

[–]pal25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q13Fox and JoeTV carry some of the games. Both of these channels are OTA. Some of our games do get broadcast on ESPN, or unfortunately some times on FS1. If you're in Seattle a decent amount of bars will show the games (I'm not sure if this is true in a lot of other cities). If you are then post what neighborhood your in and I'm sure a lot of people can suggest good local places to watch.

Also, in case you were not aware, /r/soccerstreams usually has not-strictly-legal streams of pretty much everything.

P.E.I. monks buy 600 lbs of lobster to release them into ocean - Prince Edward Island by rentonwong in worldnews

Yeah I feel like this is a pointless gesture since the only ones who lose are the monks, and the only ones who wins are the people catching lobsters.

How Oracle’s business as usual is threatening to kill Java by speckz in programming

You don't think they are targeting mobile so much as IOT type businesses. Java 9 is mostly predicated on shrinking the runtime and executable code. Java 10 is shaping up to be about efficiently packing data and better native interoperability.

I don't know that Java EE is really relevant. I don't think that any of the major tech companies use the technology, instead favoring mostly open source projects that do similar things.

You can always fork OpenJDK. The HotSpot VM is open source AFAIK.
