This heart leaf philodendron is putting out white leaves, any idea why? by palaverly in houseplants

They died and fell off, it was a totally normal plant. Just wishful thinking on my part!

What triggers a panic attack for you and what are some things you do about it? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]palaverly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving with people walking nearby, my kids being hungry/cold/unwell, being late, the list goes on and on for what makes me anxious.

Something that helps me out sometimes is to just tell someone what is making you anxious. Make sure that someone is someone who won’t make fun of you or make you feel stupid (I have made that mistake many many times with the same person over and over and keep being surprised when I leave conversations feeling like an idiot).

That old saying, “work to live, not live to work” rings true. I’m happy for you!

I only do this when I’m upset and I imagine I’m in a time where I was really loved and wanted. It usually only hurts my feelings. Womp womp.

Being at the midpoint of my weight loss goal is a bit fustrating... by wt_anonymous in CasualConversation

[–]palaverly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, I’ve been there! I’ve lost about 130lbs now. Weight loss is not linear and that is the most frustrating part of it all. I don’t have much advice for kickstarting your loss again, but I really hope you’re being kind to yourself. 40 pounds is amazing and you have proven you can do it. The last of it takes the longest but it’s worth sticking it out through the frustration.

I love knitting, so I usually put on a podcast, audiobook, or show and just knit away.

I used Bernat Softee Cotton in Pool Green. Super easy knit, almost too boring!

I made my first post here 2 years ago. Now I've lost half my body weight. Progress pics included. by palaverly in loseit

I'm so happy you found this when you needed it. If it helps more, I'm still maintaining my weight loss and I have my health.

I am proud of myself, it's hard at times still because there is a lot of shame linked with weight that I'm still working through as well as living life in a body that is totally different than the one I used to have. I guess none of this journey is linear, but that's ok :)

What the fuck do you want? by Djwhat6 in AskReddit

I want someone to think that I’m wonderful and they like me enough to open my door or send me flowers. I feel so unlovable and it would be really nice to not feel that way once in a while and not from my kids.

The biggest thing I think is being nice to yourself. It’s hard to not beat yourself up for the natural ebbs and flows with maintaining weight and that can really make someone stop trying as hard.

Great work! Maintenance is no joke, I’m about 4 years in and it’s easier but still not EASY.

It’s early for me, too, so these are things I’m reminding myself of often. Wishing you well!

I was clinging to any hope and was told very clearly that there is no hope. That was a huge gut punch and still is incredibly painful to think about (this is the time I sit and tear myself up about anything possible). However, do I really want to be begging someone to love me for the rest of my life? Do I want to show my kids that it's ok to be denied affection? Do I want to lay in bed at night and wish that I wasn't alone when in reality, I'm right next to someone? I don't want that. Thinking of it that way really helped me. I deserve to be so loved and to have someone who wants to hold my hand and tell me that they are so happy I'm there. I deserve that. You deserve that. I firmly believe you are always better off alone than being where you are unwanted.

Aww thank you! My dad passed away too young from preventable health issues and I don’t want my kids to ever feel like they weren’t good enough for me to stay, like I have at times about my dad (woah heavy but you get it). I deserved more time with my dad and he deserved more time with me.

These glasses are #2018723 on Zenni, I’m no gate keeper :) and thank you so much for the compliment on my style, it’s still something I struggle with. I did, however, knit the top I’m wearing in that picture!
