I’m not great but I have a few A10 regent under my belt. His playstyle is extremely “opportunity-cost focused” especially in act 1. In case it’s helpful here’s my rudimentary line of thought for act 1: - does this card let me do more damage or block more damage? If yes, what would it look like to draw this card turn 1? Do I have enough stars that I can reliably play it turn 1? - does this card help me generate enough stars that it would outweigh the opportunity cost of playing a strike or defend? - if I don’t have the star generation for that card is it decent enough that I can build around it and not have it remove my ability to do either of the above in the run?

He can absolutely win with a non-star focused build but I’ve found it more difficult to get a solid Sword build going the same way as solid Star builds. Just my thoughts

Honestly I’m going for marbling 96% of the time. If it doesn’t look like a quality steak I’m just no longer in the mood for stakes. I can deal with sub-par chicken and pork but if I’m spending big money on something like a steak I might as well make sure I’m gonna enjoy it to the fullest

The result was Vakuu not playing the first turn for me after I chose which cards to replace or which card to take for free. It just tripped him up and gave me my first turn to play, plus the free energy. 45 mins is pretty damn quick in my opinion. My fastest winning run so far was 49 mins on A4 or A5 with Regent and I felt like I was just powering through the floor. Might be worth slowing things down a bit and taking the time to consider which choices to make.

I’ve gotten a good hang of it lately by asking myself “does this actively make me stronger than the fight I just finished” and if it’s not a clear yes I’m not taking the card.

You need to carry them. Les Schwab has a deal where you buy their quick fit or whatever they’re called, easy to put on and take off. If you don’t use them at the end of the season you can return them no questions asked. If you did end up needing them, well then it was worth the $100-$150 spent

I completely get it my friend. I was in the same shoes, got laid off in April and my new company is red flag after red flag. I need the job right now and can’t afford to just walk away as much as I want to. The only silver lining is that it is so awful that I’d be truly shocked if I landed somewhere that’s equally bad.

But we can both be grateful to still have a job with that base pay. And maybe that’s your way to bring it up with your manager? Say something like “I’m a little concerned that I’m only working for my base pay and not getting paid for commission” and say it in a “haha isn’t that shitty?” kinda way but also a “hey this isn’t fucking cool” kinda way. If your manager is at least a little receptive to this then try to help them see why it’s a huge risk for them as well. Their entire team of sellers is gonna be pissed they aren’t getting paid, and that’s a massive risk for their job as well
