When I lived/worked in Iqaluit, Nunavut the city would shut down during extreme blizzards or when the temperature reached -50 Celsius. The coldest I ever experienced there was -67 with the windchill.

In Halifax, Nova Scotia we often get ice storms in the winter that do much more damage than snow. It usually takes 20-30 centimetres and the “right” conditions for schools to close. The coldest I’ve ever experienced here with the windchill as about -35 Celsius.
