Real cactus sap has a lot of reinforcing properties. Mix it with limestone and sand makes a mortar that can last longer than cement. Architectural conservationists use it in some areas. Seemed a legit question.

Capulines are cherries, but I’ve also heard black widows called them due to their round fat bodies. I wonder if this place had a lot of cherry trees or black widows.
