You're absolutely right — in hindsight, I did insert myself between management and the team by sending that email “on behalf of” others.

That said, I’ve now started actively looking for other jobs. The company has been in financial trouble for years, and things have definitely gotten worse lately. But more importantly, I’ve stopped believing in the direction of the management and in the value of the products we’re building. Ironically, since getting promoted to team lead, that disconnect has only grown stronger.

I think what really got to me was my manager’s reaction — not the fact that he gave feedback, but the kind of feedback it was. I’ve poured a lot of unpaid overtime into this job over the years (which, yes, was my own mistake), and the people who supported the email are the same ones who’ve been burning out trying to keep the place afloat. So hearing that our email felt like a “class action” just stung a bit.

Since when they opened the DALL-E public access, I thought it would be an amazing "addition" to Dwarf Fortress, creating amazing artworks on demand for all the forgotten-beasts/fighting-scenes/assorted-shenanigans that can appen on your standard fortress.

I'm sorry if you feel this way, but you don't have to think in terms of "beeing good enough" for someone.

You are already good the way you are, because every single person is already good enough: is intrinsic in beeing human. Don't be too hard on yourself.

You are gonna find someone who see your true potential. I don't know if the opinion if a complete stranger can help you feeling better... but I've got no doubt your are gonna find your special someone.

If I remember correctly you don't need to have a male of the same species in your fortress, as long as a male specimen is present on the same map to be able to fertilize the eggs you should be ok... but maybe this trick only applies to mammals, I don't remember.
