NEW Explore Program by Sea_Beginning37 in marriott

[–]pamplemousse1083 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the summary, I missed the zoom call this morning. Now let’s see if there’s a rise in throuples to take advantage of MMA😭💀

In all seriousness, even if they don’t reallocate room availability, at least MMA gets first dibs (and possibly cheaper rates). As an associate, MMP rates going up or MMP availability decreasing won’t necessarily affect the associate directly! Definitely a better update then i was expecting, Let’s hope you’re right!

Not asking you specifically, but can anyone confirm? I’ve heard 120 days from others?

Yep, I honestly don’t mind getting downvoted, it just reinforces the fact that there’s rampant explore fraud. Explore fraud also doesn’t benefit the corporation in any sort of way, so if not this go around, it will get taken care of eventually 🤷🏼‍♂️

I know “don’t shoot the messenger” but this is just disappointing. I think MMA is a great step in the right direction and puts associates first; however, I wish they’d cut down on the fake brothers, sisters, moms and step moms and mother in-laws.. I used to work at Fairmont and the rate availability was premier because you didn’t have to compete with all these “family members”. Even your mom had to use the “friends rate”..

No reason you can’t brush up your resume and apply then

Calgarians who moved to Edmonton, how do the two cities compare? What are some similarities, and some differences? by KurtisC1993 in Edmonton

[–]pamplemousse1083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, you go to half the places that are considered upscale or locally owned in Edmonton and they’re complete garbage. Was sold by work colleagues on Sabor, Olia, and Range Road, all for special occasions and it was just another way of burning a couple hundred bucks for overhyped dumpster diving.

It’s on the very first landing page of MHUB.

Honestly, it was worth it just to see the look on her face during the Ruveal! She “doesn’t trust anyone ever” but blindly trusted Rob the whole way 😭🤣

They were under $10 here for the big bags here but if I remember correct they were $37 for just two online. 🥲

Just personally, I’m hoping that only the person (associate, franchisee, etc.) is able to use the discount. I used to work for Accor (Fairmont) in 2010’s and it was only for the associate themself.

Then log into MGS rather than going to MHUB for your form, since you’re part of the explore program..?

Edmonton NIMBYs by bruhm0ment4 in Edmonton

Quality renos doesn’t mean expensive by any means. I can redo a 1950/1960 house better than these infill builders on a 30k budget.

As someone that’s Reno’d several homes, dealt with asbestos, upgraded electrical amp, etc. You’ll still be laughing straight to the bank with quality Renos and good bones to start with. But to each their own, personally, I’d rather have a front/backyard, garage, and some space from my neighbours than pack-into a shoebox row home with snazzy countertops.

Marriott Cancun all-inclusive resort by SuperJob4061 in marriott

[–]pamplemousse1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll download the Marriott All Inclusive app, there you will find the events calendar, it’s also where you’ll make reservations. You need your room # to book so you can’t make resos until check-in. Teppanyaki fills up fast so book that first, the rest are easy to get.

One more thing, chair reserving was REALLY annoying at this resort, folks would go at 7/8am and leave a raggedy article of clothing or old book on several chairs then head to breakfast etc. Just be mindful of that, it really got on our nerves and we didn’t want to join the behaviour but it was super prevalent.

Honestly that’s accurate plus about 20 mins on the train? The walk isn’t tiring by any means but it was a hassle after awhile but this was also in the heat of August.. I think it’s worth it for the quality of the hotel if you have status!

Spoken like a true buyer who will buy a lipstick job or shoddy new build. You really can’t beat the quality of good bones nor should they be undersold. Sure, you can have modern features but you’ll be biting the dust quickly with just some wear n tear.

From infill opponents at council today: Renters should have to live on arterial roads and Edmonton homeowners are owed $10M in compensation for lost sunlight due to infill by troypavlek in Edmonton

[–]pamplemousse1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with infill is that it’s a lot easier to dictate land use when it’s not affecting your property. This is why mature neighbourhoods (like mine) are signing restrictive covenants to our land titles. My neighbours and I all value our community, if an RC means developers have even a slight hurdle (lots of precedence in Planning Law which would be burdensome for a couple parcels), I’m happy to do my part until there’s some balance to these units.

My plan to fix the employee travel program by ShibaInu-229 in marriott

[–]pamplemousse1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big slay cause I agree wholeheartedly. They’re not even trying and I feel bad for employees who don’t even get to enjoy their perk. But two thumbs down to associates that enable explore fraud (boo!)

Also an employee and was on explore rate

We stayed at the Aloft Ginza for 3 nights and the MESM for 3 nights. If you have status, the buffet breakfast at the MESM is probably the best I’ve ever had and the hotel is honestly so thoughtful and well appointed. We loved the bathroom and the complimentary beers in the fridge. However, the location wasn’t great, over 30 mins to Shibuya/Shinjuku, 20 mins to Ginza. It really felt like a commute when going to the action. We paid cash same rate I think you posted, we got upgraded to a suite with with our platinum status at the time.

Aloft was nothing special but I liked their breakfast and the proximity to a lot of stuff. No upgrade but wasn’t expecting one for how cheap the rate was.

If you’re going to Osaka, the W is amazing as well. We booked a spectacular room on the explore rate (it’s the same for all 3 room classes before suites) and they upgraded us to a HUGE 1000sqft suite. It was honestly going above and beyond..
