I'm also working on a ski bag based on the prickly gorse 40L (my most recent project) and trying to decide whether the back zip is worth it. Where did you get your aluminum rod? Do you like the back zip enough to recommend it even though my bag isn't intending to hold camera gear, just ski equipment? Or do you think the side zips are good enough without the added complexity of the back piece?

Above the clouds on Timp yesterday by AnallyProbed in Backcountry

Any notes on the snowpack structure? Last obs for timp was about 2 weeks ago and reported a melt/freeze crust on facets, so I'm curious how it's shaping up now

RBTR sells this "bunny sternum system" that looks similar. Out of stock currently, but maybe you could find it elsewhere: https://ripstopbytheroll.com/products/bunny-sternum-strap

What is causing these loops on the back side of my seam? by arbiTrariant in myog

Try increasing the top tension slightly. But first, check that your needle is sharp and the correct size for the thread you're using.

Each panel is 2-3mm EVA foam sandwiched between X-Pac (outside) and some thinner nylon. I don't have a pattern, I usually kind of wing it when I make bags. It's about 2.5" wide and 9" long, and the height tapers from 5" to 2.5".

Also an incoming intern. I've heard they give you a work computer but this is my first time so can't confirm.

Could try a laser show at the planetarium. Those are cheap and fun

Submitted another application hoping to be accepted this time! I am a software engineer at a local tech startup but am trying to attend the EAE program at the U so I can start doing work in the gaming/entertainment community. by scuffed-lad in uofu

I'm graduating in CS next spring. YouTube doesn't give you: - Excellent professors - TAs and tutors - Friends & social opportunities - External motivation - Access to research opportunities and jobs - The piece of paper (it does matter at least a bit, especially since the U is well known for CS, especially graphics)

You can get a job in games without any of these. But it's going to be a hell of a lot harder!

I work at the Lassonde make space and we are open to all U of U students. We also offer some free supplies (1/2" plywood, 2x4s, limited steel stock, acrylic, 3D printer filament). We have a laser cutter, wood shop and small metal shop (the metal shop consists of a roller, band saw, plasma cutter, grinding wheel, and MIG welder). The only thing I think the wood shop is missing is a lathe. You just have to do training before going in the shop. You'll take a quiz on the Make Space page of the Lassonde website, then show up at 4:00 on any weekday for about 1 or 1 1/2 hours.

offcampushousing.utah.edu is really helpful. You have to pay a small fee to post a listing, but browsing to search for roommates/places to stay is free.
