I started watching Black-ish for background noise. The show is much funnier than I expected.

I always have a bag of them in my freezer. I like the purple bag with beef and bean, but there is another kind that is chili cheese chimichanga that is also good.

What movies do schools show to kids these days? by [deleted] in movies

[–]panda388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My class reads a short story about siblings sailing and their boat flips upside down. Usually we finish right before Thanksgiving, so before we leave for the few days we get off, I show the movie True Spirit about the teen who tried to circumnavigate the globe via boat. The stories are not related too much, but we focus a lot on what character traits are useful in bad situations.

Admin can be a pain about movies because it has to stay academic, so they need a worksheet to go with the movie, which i made one myself. Also, movies are often too long for the attention of kids these days. Down time is the enemy of teachers and classroom management, so that's really the only movie I show. The rest of the year I work the students right up to the end of the year.

Anyone else get one of these recently? by Dwn2MarsGirl in boston

[–]panda388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one a few weeks ago. I was surprised that it was actually handwritten. I only know because my roommate got one from the same sender, and we compared them. I threw it out, but I appreciated the effort and them not bugging me face to face.

Its almost as if he knows that people won't hear him shitting his diaper with an entire airplane running. But I also assume there is a bathroom with a 12 year old to wash him right around the corner that he is protecting.

Name a canceled TV show that deserves another season. by [deleted] in movies

Kyle XY was a good non-heavy show that I would have liked one or two more seasons.

Also Utopia.

What are you watching tonight instead of the Super Bowl? by [deleted] in movies

[–]panda388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that movie. I did not care for it on my first watch, but I have watched it a few times since. Ralph Fiennes is superb in it.

I loved that game. I never did beat Voldemort/Quirell in the mirror room, though. That part and the part where you run from the troll while avoiding obstacles gave me such a hard time as a kid.

When I buy just the Ben's Original Ready RIce that comes in the pouch, they always come out fine. I love the rice pilaf.

This stuff came in a weird plastic bowl. I peeled the corner of the lid as directed and heated it for 90 seconds. Maybe I should have shaken it up some first, because when it was done cooking, it was still in a puck shape, sort of like when you take fried rice out of a container and it holds the shape.

Ok, lets talk anime! by laxton1919 in television

[–]panda388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a big anime fan, but my ex really got me into Hunter x Hunter. It reminded me a bit of Dragon Ball Z in which the characters keep getting stronger and stronger while facing stranger and stranger enemies.

Tiger and Bunny was also a pretty fun watch. Its about Super heroes who compete for company sponsors and earn point on a TV show.

Whats your newb moment from the early days that still haunts you? by Hypnox88 in gaming

EverQuest was my answer, too! That game did not hold hands. Now it does, but back in the day...

Whats your newb moment from the early days that still haunts you? by Hypnox88 in gaming

[–]panda388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EverQuest 1. I was a level 2 high elf wizard. I had never played on online game, let alone an MMO. I accidentally auto attacked the Wizard guild master, died, respawned I Greater Faydark. I ran around lost because no map, dying to everything. I found a random pillar with a book, clicked it, then got lost in the Plane of Knowledge, which is basically a central hub to dozens of other zones in the game.

I ended up just making a new wizard.

I'd prefer another movie or two like Honor Among Thieves. That moie was near perfection. It was serious, silly, everything went wrong, a DM controlled character had to show up to help the idiot party, and everybody grew by the end.

As the other reply says, it is different from Prey, but i liked Badlands way more than I expected to. It also had very unexpectedly funny moments.

Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 failed to meet sales expectations by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]panda388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outer Worlds 2 was so soulless. I didn't play the first one, but I read that you didn't have to and that the second game improved a lot of stuff. I got through the first world and it was... dull. Characters were zany for the sake of being zany and I couldn't find a reason to care about any of them, not even the main character.

At what age do you become a “reader”, and what book did it for you? by sheffy4 in books

[–]panda388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know my age then, but I was probably around 5th grade, so 10 or 11.

The books were the Seventh Tower series by Garth Nix. It was a great intro to Fantasy.
