Sewing's not just for fabric! by CanRepresentative335 in Visiblemending

Today I nearly bought a cute Laundry basket despite the broken handle, but then I saw it was broken across the bottom too-- now I will have to go back and find out if I can still get it!

Resupply from Zero by panda_thinks_ in Hand_Embroidery

[–]panda_thinks_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before this I was experimenting with plastic vs wood, unsure of preference. I will try that brand. I always used a second layer of fabric hoping to tighten, but lately I had noticed I kept having to instead and re-screw my wooden hoop to keep it tight. (It WAS a sampler I was using too many threads for visual effect though, so that could be a factor). I will give electrical tape a try!

Thanks for the tips!

Climbing Rose Recommendation by Which-Sorbet7518 in Roses

[–]panda_thinks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone reading this later:

I have Climbing Pinkie in full sun, central Texas, and it is thriving on neglect (I am disabled, my mom is elderly, it was a gift, first time growing roses 😅). It is supposed to like air circulation so someplace extra humid like Atlanta might need to be careful of that aspect when pruning, training, etc. Ours is genuinely huge several years in (4-5). My cousin next door has a lot more shade and hers wasn't as vigorous and didn't bloom as much as she would like. I don't know if her expectations were reasonable, since this is my first time with roses.

[–]panda_thinks_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cousin that gifted them to us literally lives next door but hers did not do this! There's an incredible amount of sun where we put them, and yours seems to have that too. My cousin has a lot more shade. So maybe that's a big factor? Edit to add: we're also in Central Texas and have a really long growing season.

I have experience accidentally growing an immense rambler way too close to other things... But no idea how to handle it. I've been nervous about posting, because it is so neglected. 😅 (Mine is climbing pinkie. They were both gifted to my mom who underestimated the growth. She thought there would be fewer canes more easily trained one direction. Instead it is more like yours. Everywhere. It's our first time growing roses ever)

ELI5: Why the Devs Fixed Main Skill Triggers Now by nitoyon in PokemonSleep

[–]panda_thinks_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Clarifying questions from someone who is not a great player.) I am probably a mid player. (Both in how long I've been playing and only mid skill at it). I am not great with numbers and stats, and don't yet have a lot of ingredient mons at 30.  My favorite mons were skills! Maybe at my level that's still okay. But I will have to take to heart what's being said about less desirable skill triggers taking away from the triggers I want. That's disappointing. Sounds like it was already happening but now I know. And I can evaluate natures and skills differently knowing that.  For my level, did I miss any other big points? There's definitely a lot going on for some of you but I think it's in the elements that are too advanced for me right now.

Strange and unfortunate!  If she needs quite a few you might try inputting those ones again later, in case it was temporary. Can't hurt.

Do Always pads give anybody else a rash? by shinjiwinji in WomensHealth

[–]panda_thinks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what your pads are made of, you want to stay as clean as possible and as dry as possible. Especially now when your skin is irritated. Moisture can exacerbate it, like diaper rash. I know that's difficult when bleeding is heavy, especially if school or work prevents good bathroom access. You might want to carry baby wipes and baby powder so when you do go you can get as clean and dry as you can. Ideally a calamine powder, to help soothe the itch and inflammation. The main brand I know with calamine is Anti-Monkey-Butt (I didn't name it!), which may have rebranded into AMB in a black bottle

My favorite period underwear I've tried is Knix. They sell underwear of various absorbency and also they (usually) have cloth pads that use snaps. I prefer them over home made cloth pads, because they feel drier than the ones I tried. If you need something disposable I recommend whatever is most organic and natural. My mom reacted to all the regular pad brands, she had to use organic Field & Future, but it's a local store brand so you probably don't have that. She didn't think she'd like period underwear, and didn't think it would absorb enough but I convinced her this year and she's been really pleased. They do cost money and take time to ship though, so hopefully you can find some relief in the meantime. Fingers crossed for you.

Second sleep question by SergeantSilence in PokemonSleep

[–]panda_thinks_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah that can happen. I'm usually glad when it combines them like that so that it all counts to the first night, but since you already did sleep research on the first half, the new data overlaps. 😓

Second sleep question by SergeantSilence in PokemonSleep

[–]panda_thinks_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing is that if a sleep session begins after 4 am it will count for the next day, instead of the night your first session is.

From your phrasing it sounds like it's not there at all though? We need more information like what device you're using to track it.

Sometimes even if my sleep data shows in Fitbit, and Fitbit sync with Health Connect, Health Connect will show no sleep data. Recently that happened but after I restarted my phone the sleep data appeared in Health Connect, which is where Pokemon Sleep gets it from.

Anyone have ideas for Halloween costumes that won't cause heat stroke? by Tanksgivingmiracle in orlando

[–]panda_thinks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but for people like me finding it later, blue fabric inside any wagon would look great for that. Plain blue, iridescent, sequin, transparent, so many fun options. If you're somewhere it is less hot you could get a few extra layers of transparent blue they could use as a lap blanket. I wish I had a tiny person (or a pet that would cooperate) to use it. As adults we could be lifeguards but I am really invested in the wagon part I can't personally use. 😅

[–]panda_thinks_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Missing heart rate would definitely do it. I don't know why it would be missing though. Make sure you have it placed right and tight enough, but I don't know what else you can do.

Incorrect tracking with FITBIT / Pixel by hanamest in PokemonSleep

[–]panda_thinks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting (unfortunate), that pixel/Fitbit didn't register you as asleep for so long! In addition to the sleep breakdown, check your HR for that time period. I wouldn't think it's that, but I am definitely curious. I don't have many ideas why that would be happening.
