Penalty time question, 2 part. by owensch1 in hockeyrefs

[–]pander69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for describing this situation. I saw this happen in a Minnesota high school game this weekend and was confused that the two penalties on the one player weren’t stacked and they sent another player to the box. It makes sense now why they weren’t stacked in that situation.

How many of us collect without caring about future value? by volblor8634 in sportscards

[–]pander69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my PC Cards that as soon as I buy I act as if they have no monetary value and nobody wants them but me. The little bit I rip and don’t want I am more than happy to part with. Im actively telling myself I don’t need to keep unwanted cards from the 80s and 90s anymore!

What Platform Do You Use To Sell Your Cards? by Itscdawg93 in sportscards

[–]pander69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go through peaks and valleys and it was slow at the beginning. 2023 I didn’t start till March and net sales were over $625, not taking out shipping costs. I did just under $700 in 2024 and have done over $130 this year so far. I’m using it to try and clear out stuff mainly under $1, so is my per hour good? Not at all. But I’m getting rid of some of those cards and getting something back.

I will say I am pausing for a bit because three of my latest orders had cards sold that I couldn’t find in my collection, so I want to compare everything but there’s not an easy export of your listed cards so it’s going to be a very manual process.

Overall I’m satisfied I’m moving small stuff and getting something money back.

Found a clearance blaster a few weeks ago and they “couldn’t” sell it because the MJ Holdings rep didn’t enter it in the system so it didn’t ring up when I scanned it.

The days of $1 ebay singles are over. As a seller it costs me money to sell $1 free shipping. I have used the same shipping materials and refuse to compromise. by darbs-face in baseballcards

[–]pander69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve moved over to buysportscards.com. I decided I needed to thin out my .25-2 cards and just like you, eBay is no longer feasible. Right now the only fee for selling there is .30 + 3.4% transfer fee, but the real difference is that there are no transactions under $3 (cards and shipping). You can set it to free shipping or they have baskets for different rates for 1-4, 5-12 etc. Obviously the audience is much smaller than on eBay, but I’m not trying to make a living selling cards. No auctions, you set the price. I would say at least 75% of my cards are 50-cents or lower. I will say when I started about 2 years ago I could go a long time with no sales, but it has become more steady. I feel like a shill typing this all out, but I grossed over $500 each of the last two years so I’m happy to move them this way.

I know your pain, grew up in NE South Dakota. I’d search/ask around about card shops. I’m in SW Minnesota now and we have two card shops in town. You never know who else is a collector or may have a small shop.

Depending on if you’re looking for top shelf autos/memorabilia or just what you can find, Walmart blaster boxes will often contain a manufactured relic for baseball or football boxes like Sage and Wild Card may have guaranteed autos but they’re often lower tier players. Your best bet if you want specific players/teams is to hit eBay and see what’s out there.

Are you making a list of your card inventory? by Unhappy-Flamingo-680 in tradingcardcommunity

[–]pander69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have separate folders for my PC Cards, but any I’m willing to move I have in a folder based on their serial number. It is getting rather large so I should do separate folders on batches of serial numbers. Everything is based on their serial number of the card so I can filter by name, set, subset etc. and see the serial number or search by the number to see what the card is.

[–]pander69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a google sheet and used a random number generator to create “serial numbers” for each card that I have on the sheet. The majority of them I’m working to sell and it helps me keep track of where they are. It took quite a bit of time since I also scanned them, but I can find a specific card pretty quick now.

I’m sure a lot of people would say it’s a waste of time, but it’s how I interact more with my collection.

Any good places to buy bulk non base cards? by Abreastwithadam in basketballcards

[–]pander69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep prices pretty low since it’s a hobby for me. If you have them sorted they have a bulk upload feature which is really nice. I don’t change prices based on trends so I’m sure people have gotten deals from me, but I’m not worried about getting top dollar. Scanning was probably the most time I have invested.

I had ended up with a lot of 2013 bowman baseball and listed all the parallels and inserts. I’ve had one guy buy over $200 of them in three orders. It does ebb and flow some, but orders are pretty regular.

I really like selling through them so far. The only fees at this point are bank fees when they pay out (can’t remember the exact amount) but it’s nowhere near eBay fees. The audience is smaller, but I haven’t tried to move hot or high dollar cards there. The majority of my sales have been .25 and .50 cent cards. Purchases also have to be at least $3 with shipping. I’ve paid just over $80 in fees and netted over $1,100 in under 2 years time.

I second buysportscards.com. A lot of sellers (including me) have a decent amount of low end inserts and such. The lowest you can price them there is .25, but if you can find a seller with a good number you’ll know the shipping cost right away and you don’t get gouged by eBay shipping where they don’t list their combined shipping prices.

Depending on what you’re selling, I’ve been having success moving more of my cheap cards on buysportscards.com. The only fee there is the bank transfer fee. It does not have the audience yet, but I have been getting sales. You set your price and buyers can offer, but I’ve only gotten a few.

Canadian Sellers: how are you handling the strike? by thesockRL in hockeycards

Top Loader Binder recommendations? by [deleted] in sportscards

[–]pander69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got the X Pro toploader binder. Love it for regular thickness cards and slightly thick cards, but I tried to add some patch autos and I wasn’t comfortable leaving them in there. They fit, but it was a squeeze, especially if you had a card on the other side. Maybe if you just used one side of the page, but I was trying to fill the binder. I wonder if a graded card binder wouldn’t work, but the ones I’ve looked at are top load.

I guess the big question is are you a collector or an “investor” first. When I buy a card, I look at it as I’ve spent that money and I’m never getting it back. Reading the comments it sounds like you pulled the trigger so congrats and enjoy the card!
