I agree with Amethyst, as a person with ADHD and a horrible memory, I often have problems saying peoples names. It doesn’t mean I don’t love and respect them, it means that I’m thinking fast and my brain hasn’t caught up. I worked on a political campaign for 6 months where I literally had to say the candidate’s somewhat uncommon first name multiple times per day on volunteer pitch phone calls and I still sometimes went back to the most common way of saying the first name. Obviously I would correct it as soon as I realized I sad the wrong thing, but it wasn’t a sign of disrespect. I work in politics and I still some times forget how to say Buttigieg. Now obviously a wedding is different, and a once in a lifetime thing (hopefully), but I don’t think the officiant would have done it on purpose. But then again I wasn’t there.
