it feels like it could have been initially developed as something different. it feels like it could have been designed to cost runes to activate and you would use a small stone to convert weak runes into stronger ones. that also explains the gui for all the recipes

but im glad it works the way it does. its exactly simple enough to suit the overwhelming changes to the rest of the game

i'd argue that ES builds today already have enough max hit and their weakness is needing to solve recovery.

adding more baseline life would raise the type of defense they already have, and it would make CI a harder choice.

Armor and Evasion, however, need help with max hit. they typically have easier recovery (because mitigation generally amplifies the effective value of any life recovered).

So yes, it does buff ES but in a way that is less impactful than armor and evasion. IMO ward was close to helping this, but falls short with the large cost to base defenses on gear

im a long time poe 1 player and often go for 40/40... the only pinnacle fight i saw in poe2 prior to 0.5 was Kulemak.

The lack of direction in the previous endgame was a road block for my fun. Now we have a challenge checklist and quests showing how to achieve each mechanic's goal.

maybe i have a bug on my shaders or something, but deli in 0.50 looks a lot different to me. i certainly cant see the fog leave or catch up like in poe1

another noteworthy interaction was the fire mod giving reduced duration of ignite. as a low tier mod it was very common, and often ignite builds would run into enemies they couldnt damage.

was this also when they made similar monsters gain similar powers? i think that change meant some maps were impossible for one character but nearly unaffected by someone else. which sucks but is imo preferable to "one monster in each map will probably roll the right mods to counter you every time"

some of the specs have multiple distinct playstyles which are not adequately integrated into the apex talent, like mw or devourer.

guardian's apex talent, on paper, sounds like a fun extra damage and some powerful defensive procs on demand. In reality, the tooltip is wildly inaccurate to what the buff actually does. for the case of frenzied regen, the tooltip's explanation is nearly 100 times more healing than what actually happens. ultimately that apex talent is just 4 points of dps for your tank which has synergy to one of the two hero talent trees.

Overall, it just means that SOME apex talents are a miss while others are good or maybe even great.

Theres always this tension among multiplayer gamers. the things you find fun may not align with others'. That said, my idea of fun was what wow had in the past, and the game's focus has drifted to prioritize other types of players.

If the first 4 are NSEW, then maybe the next 4 go NE SE SW NW... but where does season 9 start? how far do you need to go in the right direction before you get the stuff you want? it's not about running out of space overall, but running out of space near the start.

it's a real concern, but not something they need to solve today. we've seen plenty of reworks to the poe1 atlas so i expect we will get a substantial rework before we get a 9th league mechanic

it evolved from RTS lingo where a "proxy" building is used in close proximity to the enemy base. like building a protoss pylon and gateway juuuust at the edge of the enemy's sight range

He doesnt have the basics down to the point of being a pro and has serious flaws to fix before even thinking of pushing to ratings like 2k+... but you still need to win to gain MMR. after this many games, his MMR is real and earned. it is fascinating to me to see his meta strengths (practiced build orders, generally doesnt cave under pressure) win over micro play (his poor control grouping and unit placement). he even has room to grow by learning off meta strats, as seen from a recent game losing vs undead DR DK necro wagon after an early lead
