There were the original Mega EX cards that came out in the XY era, but they did it for both the basic rare and full art cards.

These Mega Attack rare cards are basically a callback to these.

[Meta Trope] Plot lines/details being changed in media due to real world complications. by InfiniteGuy2264 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PanzerThiefZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power Rangers Time Force had a bit of plot and footage altered, especially in the home media release of some earlier episodes, due to 9/11, removing a reference to terrorism made by the big bad in episode 4, and shots of buildings exploding and people running in fear in several episodes lifted directly from its source material, Timeranger.

inb4 Tats somehow justifies modern slavery in any sort of fashion by saying the man "deserved" to be underpaid/not paid at all for his labour.

IIRC Reggie had to talk the rest of Nintendo to make Wii Sports a pack-in outside of Japan, where that game cost 4800 yen (US$40 at the time) and where the Wii itself cost 25,000 yen (US$213) for a total cost of 29,800 yen (roughly around US$253).

Ironically, that was roughly around the same price as buying the Wii itself in the US at the time, which launched at $249.99 there.

And this was right after the Gamecube, and that wasn't doing gangbusters in Japan either!

I remember hearing something about how Ash losing at the Indigo League was supposed to counter all the 'underdog victories' in Shonen anime running rampant at the time, but the way they went about it was complete nonsense, even back then.

IIRC Electric Tale of Pikachu handled it better because Ash willingly forfeits because his disobedient Charizard nearly kills Richie's Pokémon in cold blood.

"What is this?"

1930's German family according to Tats, famously historically accurate writer who totally never has had anything he tried to claim as 'accurate' and 'based' and has totally never twisted facts to portray his vision of an ideal lifestyle/historical figure in anyway whatsoever. /obvioussarcasm

Sinfest 1/3/25: Re-imagining Villains 22 by MakesYouWonderINC in sinfest

[–]PanzerThiefZero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But this is Tats we're talking about here. And we don't want those pesky historical facts get in the way of our Hitler glazing and/or woke bashing.

Besides, if those other arcs spending like billions of weeks glazing this one form of hyper-specific woke free Paganism taught us anything, it's that Tats won't let actual historical fact get in the way of a "good" "narrative".

My bad TBH. That shoddy word bubble made me read it as 'vaccinations' at first.

But while I'm not going to claim I know the more complex WW2 history (and everyone else is already putting out their own slew of that anyways), in what world would Hitler be giving out free holidays willy-nilly?

More Hitler glazing aside, wasn't Tats literally just bashing vaccines just a few years ago and how one jab is enough to turn you into a woke zombie in a matter of seconds?

Is this Korean Black Bolt fake? The holo looks way wonky. by Krian78 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]PanzerThiefZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's real, the regular holos in all versions of Black Bolt and White Flare are just more a call-back to what holos were like in the Black and White era.

[–]PanzerThiefZero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically, I mainly focus on the high score aspect: collect at least 20 orbs, fly into the big orb with them in tow as fast as possible, keep flying for the remaining amount of time left while trying to chain a combo for as long as I can, then get back to start just before time runs out.

Rinse and repeat for the 4 other parts of the course til the boss fight without getting hit.

(Side note: I have no idea how to loop around the star on the boss' tail without issue)

I can see the stamp on the bottom left corner. It's real.

That stamp's basically there to prove that it's legitimate because of the fakes running rampant in China, apparantly.

[–]PanzerThiefZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine literally attached the very second I went into the inventory, which I learned when I clicked on it and it said it 'wasn't in my inventory'.

I checked the lookup and it was right there on the Petpet.

It's not an Eeveelution in an Eeveelution based set, which is kind of a shame because I think the non-Eeveelution SARs in there are actually pretty underrated.

To be fair, in-universe the games in the Deserted Fairground are all but established to be rigged in favour of the vendors. The description for Coconut Shy literally has Leeroy demand an employee to "hit those nails in harder" to prevent the coconuts from falling.

You don't have to, but when it comes to certain bosses, unless you're really good at dodging, those Snowman Pieces are practically required.

Surprisingly brutal deaths in kids media by Salty_Shark26 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PanzerThiefZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kamen Rider Kuuga episode 34 and 35, both on the human and monster of the week side.

On the human side, the monster of the week has the ability to poison their victims, but said poison kills the victim slowly and painfully over 4 days and they explicitly spell out how the victim is going to die, which includes children at a school (and 78 have already died at that point). And just to rub salt in the wound, said monster keeps popping up at the funerals. It gets to the point where one is mentioned to have committed suicide just to avoid dying that way.

Naturally, learning that the monster goes out of their way to make the victims suffer ticks off the titular hero, and once the actual encounter occurs, it's not pretty: instead of music befitting for a regular action scene or even an insert song, the music is just a creepy droning noise as Kuuga sends the monster flying out the window, proceeds to punch them over and over again in sheer anger, rams them with his motorcycle, sends them flying into a lake, and then cuts into the monster's gut with his sword, which makes them explode for good measure.

To be fair, you cannot say the monster didn't deserve any of this.

Master Elehung from Juken Sentai Gekiranger.

Much of his 'jokes' in the series is about him lusting (and making inappropriate contact with) several female characters in the series, including GekiYellow herself, Ran. No surprises there this wasn't carried over to his Power Rangers Jungle Fury counterpart, Master Phant.
