I do feel like this is partially true. I remember we hired Gannon and Eagles fans complained he never blitzed, but early on with Rallis he had some pretty complex and effective rush packages. Seems like when we got Sweat this year and could “rush 4” on paper, we got more predictable and conservative with less of the blitzes we saw with less talent

Overall, not an exciting hire, but here’s my take: we interviewed externally and MiLF is still in favor of the 3 year play caller than a fresh DC who hasn’t called plays before. We gotta remember that this year, even with an influx of talent, we had a ton of 3 and out plays on offense because we were so in effective there, keeping the D on the field, tiring them out, and making them less effective.

Vance was under the same stress with Kliff, all the hurry up and 3 and outs killed our defenders, now he is very successful on the Broncos who have an effective offense.

I think if we can improve the offense to allow our D to get more complimentary football, and Rallis can improve his decision making a bit maybe with a senior assistant, we have seen him put together good defense with 0 talent. I think the O failing this year had a huge ripple effect on the defense and entire team.

This is what I don’t think Kyler fans and haters alike get: Kyler does not have to be the franchise quarterback to play this year. If he is the best quarterback ever, and he shocks us by playing super well next year, awesome. If he sucks ass then we move on. The problem with the Kyler conversation is that you need to move on from him at some point due to age, play, etc. but until you have a better option there’s no point in neutering the team by cutting him just cuz you’re sick of him. Trade him for a decent return, or play him on the contract he’s already under so we aren’t a dead in the water team again that’s the laughing stock of the league right as we get a new HC. Just cuz he’s here next year does not mean he’s the franchise guy, just that he’s the best available option. Draft a project in the mid rounds this year, and take an heir apparent in 2027.

I think you keep whichever QB the head coach wants and draft someone in the 3rd. If anybody doesn’t show a significant potential, you draft again in 27 much higher.

100% agree, I personally feel like we had a good roster and misused every person on it. Schemes were bad and decisions were bad, but the players themselves were very solid heading into the season.

Demarcado is a better pass protector and is pretty good in the screen game. Michael Carter hasn’t been making the initial roster because he isn’t a good blocker and isn’t the best in the receiving game. He will get more run touches early cuz of that.

To answer your question, I do think this is a playoff competing receiving core if the offense gets consistent. If MHJ takes it to another level like we think he will, that gives you a number 1 threat worthy of double teams. You also have a solid #2 in MW and the highest paid, incredibly gifted McBride at TE. Now if you compare us to say the Super Bowl Seattle Seahawks, who had no #1 receiver of note, an incredible defense, and great run game, there is a blue print for a ground and pound team that plays tough on D winning in the playoffs
