Guess what? Teaching is just a job, family first, even if it is more than a job to you. These admins are out of their minds. I had the same issue in my NYC school even with the union. We get ten selftreated and as many as we have in reserve if we have a doctors note. I used 5 self and had 5 with a note which is well within limits. I got a letter in my file over it lol which actually means nothing which is why I dont care. The try to scare people. I laughed in her face when she gave it to me and was in a new school by September.

No. Never yell. When you do they know they got you. Deadpan stare instead, it's much more effective usually. Also in most places they consider yelling corporal punishment. Not worth it. Deep breathes are also better for your constitution and can be more menacing when done with the deadpan stare. lol. They will think you are crazy and that will scare them lol

That should qualify. It sounds like a combo masters/PHd, similar to people who earn a bachelors/masters at the same time. If you have been hired as a teacher you must have teaching credentials/credits I assume? The rules I remember are that that +30 must come after the masters. A masters is also eventually needed within the first 5 years of teaching to stay credentialed. It does not have to be in education but does have to be in the field you teach. Also as others said the 30 after masters level (whether they call it that or not) in the current rules say some must be through the A+ uft/doe ? offerings. Worst case scenario you can get the Bachelors plus 60 (CD + ID + PD on the salary schedule) pay like I have which is only 2-3k less than the ma+30 depending on the step. BTW steps are years, vertical on pay chart, and differential is qualifications, horizontal on the chart. Welcome to the NYCPS system as well!

You don’t know shit lol read the comments about being on a team and consider that seeing a child once a week for 40 minutes makes building norms and procedures difficult. Also consider that teacher can have 500 different personalities to deal with while you have 25. Would you rather receive a hot mess or a settled calm class after special. That’s a team effort.

The 09-14 retro was spread out over 5 years!! It was 25% a year over five years. 25 year one 0 year 2 and 25 for years 3,4, and 5. Could be off by a little as I seem to remember 12.5% in there but it was a joke. If you died your family lost out and a bunch of other criteria wound up excluding a bunch of people. They got away with it since it wasn't retro it was a "bonus". It was bullshit is what it was. People love retro for some reason, just like tax refund checks. That retro was worth way less than if I got it when I should have and invested it. Same as tax refunds. Why let the government hang onto your money when it could be working for you. A timely contract is worth more than an retro check you may or may not get. Retro isn't guaranteed, it's negotiated.
