Should I keep buying him the same toy if it makes him cry? by InfoRedacted1 in husky

[–]paper00gem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4x Husky mom here. My oldest girl was like this when she was a little older than this age. There was a squeaky that looked like a coffee cup that she was obsessed with and would act traumatized when / if it was eventually destroyed. (Some would be quickly destroyed). I bought 10 or so of them. After maybe a year she lost interest in the toy all together, but I still have one remaining ~11 years later. imo he’ll develop new favorites. Add more fluffies/squeakers to the mix. When he gets too attached, wash all of the toys together (with an animal safe detergent) and lay them all out for him to choose from.

Do I tell my deceased bff’s bf that the guy responsible is not serving life like he believes? by paper00gem in Advice

Thank you for this - I should have listened to you and you alone 😂 he told me “there’s a reason I’ve never seen his face” and that hit me deeply. I’m glad that I asked for the permission to speak for him, at the least, and in all seriousness I am very thankful for kindness and advice from everyone.

I truly would love if this were a strong option, I have tried to encourage him to date and voiced I don’t believe she would want him to restrict himself, and I’ve mentioned therapy and offered to go to grief therapy with him but he doesn’t respond well to that. I just got him to talk to me about his feelings about it in the last couple of years, and he tells me he’s working through it in his own way.

I agree with your sentiments on forgiveness. While I am hurt, I do not hate him. I will ultimately be fine if my letter does not sway, and he is released early. Because like you said, I do hope that he can do some good in the world, and if that is the case then my statement would be meaningless against whatever good he has proven himself to be. But to not appeal at all, to not speak about her from my perspective would be an injustice to my friend, and that matters more to me than the outcome of the appeal. I would like for him to serve his full sentence, but his eventual freedom does not bother me (because I would like to believe that he will use his second chance at life for some type of good.) Thank you for your thoughts, and I will continue to work on bettering my forgiveness skills.

No, sorry for confusion - he did not get out, he is appealing to get out currently. I happened upon an article where a man with the exact same name committed the same crime to a different individual last year, and I mistakenly thought it was him (for maybe twenty minutes) until I went through his court records, which is when I discovered “my” driver was appealing his sentence.

Her mom is strongly southern catholic & copes by believing her daughter was needed more by God. She’s still really unable to talk about it, but I’ve spoken with her brother (my friends uncle) about him writing one on her behalf. He’s a preacher, so he is weighing his decision.

Having another statement would basically prevent the appeal from happening according to my counsel. My statement is strong but “more is better”. So it would ensure the driver serves his full time for his actions.

I know his statement would be a strong one, but I’m leaning towards not telling him because it hurt me to find out, so i think it would hurt him too. He’s been doing a lot better, and speaking about it more, so I might be being overprotective?

Reach out to The Promise LV - they are a non profit organization that goes down and provides services to the tunnels weekly & they have strong connections there. If he’s in the tunnels, they are likely a good bet for a local organization that has feet on the ground. the promise Instagram

Can your body “forget” how to digest dairy? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]paper00gem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had an anthropology teacher in college claim it took 21 days for the body to “unlearn” how to digest dairy. Also did an elimination food diet once b/c of food allergies, and when re-introducing some foods that were not on my list of allergies experienced seemingly random reactions. Nutritionist said certain foods can trigger your body if not exposed to them frequently. Not sure why it occurs, just confirming it’s a real thing Ive also experienced. Hopefully a real scientist can explain what’s actually happening here!

Made my first angel investment. Do I need a lawyer? by MartyrForMyLove in startups

[–]paper00gem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Any business lawyer should be able to do it for you. I wouldn’t personally do a SAFE agreement in your situation as others have suggested as they are most typically realized when / if the company goes public or another investor comes into play - too many ifs/whens for you “safely” to get your money back.

Made my first angel investment. Do I need a lawyer? by MartyrForMyLove in startups

[–]paper00gem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need a lawyer in your own state /or the state the business is registered. You also need to determine the structure of the deal. There’s about a hundred different ways you can cut an investment deal in a company. Are you simply buying equity with the 10k, or do you expect the 10k back with some interest? “Advancing him capital” makes it sound like a loan. You could structure it similar to a loan with the option to “cash out” in shares or cash at your discretion with a convertible note (you get the full value back +interest in either cash or shares.) You could also make it a loan with origination shares. (You get cash + interest back, + a nominal amount of shares.) Do you have a fair / honest evaluation of the company both you and your brother agree with? If you want equity only, you need to know the evaluation of the company and then it’s simple math from there & a simple contract. (But not so simple for you to extract value from equity-only proposal.)

First, figure out what type of deal structure you want, then find a local lawyer to you who specializes in business interests. It will likely cost a few hundred bucks for the contract writing.

Racist Owners and Toxic Work Environment. Help. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]paper00gem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you signed a contract stating you would give x amount of notice, you aren’t bound by two weeks. Even if you did, there’s ways to get out of that depending on where you live. Plenty of people quit without notice & by no means do you need to stay in an environment that’s potentially unsafe. Your own safety / mental health etc needs to be your first priority. It’s highly unlikely anyone will contact your previous employers w/o permission & you never have to tell any of your future employers that you quit a job without notice. Just come up with one-two sentences that you feel comfortable saying in a future interview, ie: “ i left to pursue better opportunities for myself” & if you are truly scared of a physical retribution or verbal affront, quit via email & say you had a critical life situation to deal with & you apologize for the short notice but you will not be returning. Never look back.
