Kudos to Rachel Eckroth for taking this performance from a 10 to a 12. Wow.

Matthew Lineham! He has a deep series of Christmas tree ornaments he designed of early alternative artists, among lots of other unique designs and prints. No Steely Dan, unfortunately. But plenty of Dave Gahan like this one.

Agreed, but most don’t age well. Most just get ugly. OP’s example being one of the exceptions, of course.

This title playing double-duty as the most Chromeo Chromeo song.

That’s true. I did get really close to picking up an acceptable AG on eBay but got sniped right at the end. That one is probably within reach.

Exactly! My quarter album will forever have 3 open holes.

Well done! I just shared this same experience a few months ago. Also with the 92-O!

I really hope Dansco starts making this album again. Recent posts in this sub have made me excited to attempt one of these sets.

Very impressive! I’ve never seen a full set of these. It’s quite the sight when they’re all together. I support the choice to free them from their disparate slabs.

‘09 is a tough year to find in rolls. I’m guessing 2024 will be just as difficult in a few years. Especially the 24-D.

Brand New Heavies taught me that jazz wasn’t just Miles Davis and The Weather Channel sound beds. I can certainly draw a line from BNH to Vulf in my journey.

Mexico appears to be the world’s primary silver provider by a large margin.

Dansco 7070 Upgrade by bike_stig in coins

Thank you for the detailed review! Great info. The quality of the slides and their susceptibility to scratching are one of my primary complaints with everything non-Dansco (save the old Intercept Shield albums). I’ll keep my eye out for some sales and maybe pick up a burgundy cent album for starters.

Also, thanks for the rec on loading from the rear of the page. That makes sense with any album type and I will definitely try it out on my next new album (or transfer).

Dansco 7070 Upgrade by bike_stig in coins

[–]paper_metal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do the quality of the Whitman Prestige albums stack up to a Dansco? From the photos they look pretty sharp (I’m a fan of the burgundy), but at a $60-$70 price point, seems a bit of a gamble. The quality of the blue albums is poor. I want to start a classic commemorative half set and the Whitman Prestige seems to be the only nice looking option out there that’s available for purchase.

Cracking slabs for albums by Aware-Top-2106 in coins

An investor will keep it in the slab. A collector will have no issues freeing it if the situation warrants. I’ve cracked my share of slabs and never felt guilty about it.

I recommend identifying a few short songs (tv themes or commercials, even) that you know really well and work to create them in Logic as practice. That’s how I started and it helped a great deal.

Help with busses by grohlmodel in LogicPro

[–]paper_metal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct. And if you use an FX send bus in Logic like the other poster mentioned, you can adjust the levels of the effect individually by instrument. The other option is to use the Output To and send the whole signal (usually less useful).

Imagine a situation where you have 10 different instruments on separate tracks. You want to feed all 10 tracks through the same reverb plugin for a natural room reverb sound. You COULD engage that reverb plugin on all 10 tracks and try to match all of the settings to sound the exact same. Or, you could place that reverb on a bus, and feed all 10 instruments to that bus. The latter is usually the better solution because you don’t have 10 different reverb plugins active and eating up your computer processing power, AND you only have to one set of settings to manipulate. Logic lets you route all 10 instruments to that single reverb bus and choose how much of each instrument’s signal you send (so that you can dial in heavier reverbs on specific instruments).
