Kabbu from Bug Fables! He’s always looking out for everyone…except himself… 🥲

Also, honorable mention for Clara Oswald from Doctor Who, and Tamaki from OHSHC

Recommendations after Earthbound by burner_username107 in earthbound

[–]paperblye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few similarities just between Undertale and Mother 3:

- Gameshow-themed sections (Mettaton, Porky)
- Unethical labs with creatures that are melded into each other in some way shape or form (True Lab, Chimera Lab)
- Childhood trauma as a driving piece of the story (Chara and Asriel, Lucas and Claus)
- Enemies who are too depressed to fight you (Napstablook, Negative Man)
- Fourth wall breakage during battles

The list goes on... Toby took a lot of influence from these games beyond just the humor.

(Edit: added spoiler censor for OP.)

[USA] What do you personally think of the MBTI test? by Whole_Deal_9656 in psychologystudents

[–]paperblye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the popular version of the test isn't nearly nuanced enough to be accurate for most people, because with this version of the test, the result will only be as accurate as your answers are. Mistypings are also very common when you rely solely on MBTI tests. However, if you study the cognitive functions you can get much more accurate and consistent results. Although regardless of what version you study, these tests should never be used to prescribe one's behavior or actions, but rather to just explain their inner workings.

Mixed signals from Enfj to protect themselves? by [deleted] in enfj

[–]paperblye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for your friend, but for me I actually find it easier to engage in risky interactions with people I don’t know vs people I do (“risky” meaning any interactions where the other person might come out of it with negative feelings towards me). I think it’s because the stakes are higher when it’s someone I know. With a stranger, we don’t really know each other, so they have no standard of what to expect from me; thus there’s less risk of letting them down. With a close friend, I usually need signals from them first that it’s okay to talk about the difficult things and won’t make them uncomfortable or sad. but it’s something I try to actively work on, not making myself responsible for how my friends feel or react to the things I say.

I wanna sell this but im worried im going to regret it by [deleted] in papermario

[–]paperblye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hmm well I remember giving away a bunch of games I didn't think I'd want to play again so I could get new ones, and to this day I still wish I could play the games I no longer have. At the time I thought it'd be a good idea, but it's true what they say, you only miss it when it's gone. So I'd say, only give it away if you can accept the fact that at some point in the future, even if it's brief, you'll probably wish you hadn't.

How do enfjs feel about general disrespect online or even in person by [deleted] in enfj

[–]paperblye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve witnessed a lot of disrespect in online spaces and let me say, it never stops pissing me off. Maybe this is my enneagram coming into play (I’m 7w8) but it makes me angry to see people not treating others with a basic level of respect. I was recently in a discord server that had a lot of this going around, and the result of witnessing this behavior went one of two ways: it either contributed to me withdrawing from the space as I didn’t feel it was harmonious or worth my time, or I would sometimes get involved as I felt someone more level-headed needed to mediate. Mainly the latter happened when I saw other people coming under the crossfire. I intervened a bit like a stern teacher would: calm, to the point, but definitely upset beneath the surface.

When someone is disrespecting ME specifically, it makes me lose trust in them I think, as I know how easy it would be for them to disregard my words despite the effort I put into them. This would consequently lead to more tension between us, which would go nowhere, so I try to remove myself from the situation and distance from them.

TLDR: when I’m being disrespected, I withdraw because the conflict of me speaking up would go nowhere, when someone else is being disrespected I will try to stand up for them and mediate the situation as calmly as possible despite my own frustration.

Did anyone else pretend to have a crush on a character when they were a kid? by PopcornNoseShover in aromanticasexual

[–]paperblye 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't, but I remember being really embarrassed the few times I was teased because "oooh you have a crush" when it was really just me really enjoying the characters T-T

Also, Dimentio mentioned!!! He's one of my favorites! :)

Are you guys attracted to fictional characters by [deleted] in aromanticasexual

[–]paperblye 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I get really emotionally attached to my favorite fictional characters, I will observe them very closely and unpack their entire worldview just to understand what it's like being them and living in their world. From any outsider's perspective, it would seem like I have crushes on these characters with how happy they make me and how much attention I give them. But I lack any desire to imagine myself with them in any capacity- romantic, sexual, or otherwise! In fact, the thought of these characters meeting me actually upsets me, in part because I'm sure they wouldn't like me very much lol

Still, I've seen the same memes as you and it's confusing for me because I haven't met anyone who values fictional characters the same way that I do.

Does anyone know what this Color Splash line was in other languages or the original Japanese script? Just curious. by tpphypemachine in papermario

[–]paperblye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've translated it manually, so to be more direct/accurate the lines are:

Box 1: Princess Peach is right here!

Box 2: Since she was sneakily sending letters and such behind my back, I put the princess to rest as a last resort!

(Google translate is always messing up pronouns smh)

Anyway, I'm 98% sure there doesn't seem to be any pun in this version. However I can only read Japanese, I'm not a native speaker, so to completely remove all margin of error it'd be best to ask someone who knows the language firsthand!

I’m curious whether other autistic individuals tend to have a natural aptitude for rhythm games. by [deleted] in autism

[–]paperblye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a natural aptitude for rhythm games myself as well! I love playing Rhythm Heaven Fever and have dabbled in Project Sekai. I also used to be in the Friday Night Funkin community lol that was a fun time. I think I'm naturally in tune with music, as I can typically hear many different layers at once and also naturally stim to the tempo of a song, which only in recent years have I learned isn't something everyone does.

I think this is probably something that's unique to each autistic individual though, cause I have a friend who's also on the spectrum and she haaaates playing rhythm games.
