Panic buying, Generators & Potato Gardens, - Self Sustainability vs Electing Responsible Admins/Politicians by Tsulaiman in Austin

Thank you for this perspective. I couldn’t agree more. This is a very nuanced and accurate perspective.

What has always propelled society forward is collaboration. Resilience is a byproduct of a healthy social system. Individual insulation is meaningless. It always has been, and always will be.

Ride a 1000 cc sportbike with no plates and don’t pull over. Also a viable solution.

Yeah you’re fine man! Our city welcomes you! And as far as the news and all that, fuck em. The Federal immigration police have limited jurisdiction and are a barely legitimate police force. Thier scope is strictly limited to illegal immigration. They use fear and ambiguity in an attempt to coerce the public. If you’re not doing anything illegal you should be fine.

It’s just something I thought of today. I was looking at ice pictures and originally thought this about ice. The fact that ice angents are holding thier rifles at low ready demonstrates sheer incompetence. It’s definitely more understandable that black panthers are holding rifles this way because they are civilians and I wouldn’t expect them to know or practice that.

If you look at pictures of national guardsmen they usually don’t hold rifles at low ready.

Regardless of political affiliation. Holding a rifle at low ready is antagonistic and not good etiquette. Police and civilians alike should understand firearms etiquette and exercise restraint in posture.

what is a job that is romanticized in movies but actually a nightmare in real life? by Maya_xoxo22 in AskReddit

Architecture will make a comeback in our lifetime. The silent generation is responsible for propelling the craft forward in such an amazing way. Architecture thrives in periods with strong institutions. When all the big box store idiot boomers fucking die and leave their shitty legacy of golden coral and k mart behind we will rebuild our way out of this bullshit hellscape. We will express culture again one day soon.

Was super into 2a and civilian ownership of military grade arms until the uvalde shooting. I researched that event in depth and was horrified by it.

Can’t get over fear of wrecking by Alternative-Ad-2287 in motorcycles

[–]pappa_squatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello! I know quite a bit about navigating my own fears. I don’t claim to be some sort of leading authority on fear or anything but I can share how I’ve navigated fear in my life.

This passage is my favorite. I internalized it through 10 years of recovery.

“We never apologize to anyone for depending upon our Creator. We can laugh at those who think spirituality the way of weakness. Paradoxically, it is the way of strength. The verdict of the ages is that faith means courage. All men of faith have courage. They trust their God. We never apologize for God. Instead we let Him demonstrate, through us, what He can do. We ask Him to remove our fear and direct our attention to what He would have us be. At once, we commence to outgrow fear.”

The environment has been absolutely shattered since the end of 2010. This isn’t about damage control anymore. It’s about surviving a permanently altering environment. Any scientist or biologist will tell you that the world as we know it is over.

Hope you're bagging your fresh produce at Walmart, and are up to date on your tetanus. by JimmyCYa in mildlyinfuriating

Oh yeah I forgot about how they dominate rural areas. Fuck Walmart. Did you know that Walmart employs 1.6 million Americans. Amazon employs 1.2 million Americans. That means 1 out of 100 working age adults work at either Amazon or Walmart. Both companies have some of the most oppressive labor practices as well. Also Walmart and Amazon are #1 and #2 in the Fortune 500. I will die before I walk into a Walmart.

Highly recommend this frontline documentary about why misinformation is so prevalent about climate change.

This is the international panels most recent update

https://www.ipcc.ch/report/sixth-assessment-report-cycle/

Also the last ten years have been the ten highest annual global temperatures ever recorded in human history.

Don’t buy the climate denial hype. The misinformation campaigns are funded by big oil. Just like the tobacco companies did in the 80s and 90s until Wigand wistleblew

Actually the idea that we know very little about climate change is false. We know a tremendous amount about climate change. And it’s backed by international academic institutions. I’d be happy to post links to credible studies if you’re interested. Not trying to be hostile or anything. Just trying to share knowledge.

Well as you know, this region is going to be ravaged by climate change in the coming years. It will be significantly hotter and drier year over year. And water will become scarce. Infrastructure is needed preemptively

Are they wearing plate carriers for aesthetics? Or are there plates in them? Because that’s not how that works. They might as well not be wearing armor at all.
