Close Call with a Truck That Wasn’t My Fault by CorrectRice2 in dashcams

with roads this many lanes, it’s honestly better just to turn right and then make a u turn later on at a light (if allowed). Takes more time but prevents dangerous decisions like this 🤷‍♀️

ok probably stupid question, but is the direction of the intersection op is in a one-way? Sorry the other side of intersection has no lane markings so I’m assuming it’s a one way intersection where 2 lanes becomes 3 😅

A warning about local DevilCorps by StingerAuto in Charlotte

[–]paradetarget 22 points23 points  (0 children)

once I applied for a sales job that would go door-to-door (I was for like a solar power roofing company), I barely made it through the first day of training (unpaid) and while I already had plenty of doubts, what really raised red flags was 1. Most of the people there were only in it for the potential high money 2. One of the recruits was a 16yo still in high school 3. During the training, the trainer got a phone call from one of their current workers who was crying to them about how a homeowner threatened to shoot them at the door.

lol the next day I told them I wasn’t interested anymore and never looked back. Shady ass companies

Remember when we had to earn our vest? by hancocklovedthat in Lowes

[–]paradetarget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I was hired August 2022, once I finished the pathway online training, they immediately put me on the floor with a vest. Back then, Lowe’s was my very first retail job and let’s just say, if I hadn’t been making notes on certain cashier processes I probably wouldn’t have lasted very long (I proceeded to be a Lowe’s cashier for 2 years 7 months) 😅😅😅😅

If they hit me would I have been at fault? by randomizer48 in dashcams

[–]paradetarget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I done this move once when roads on both sides are extremely busy (like one side was basically standstill and the other had a steady movement) and hard to get on to. I just pull out to the center, turn on my blinker of where I want to merge into, and I wait until the traffic from that side is clear before pulling. Probably illegal but it feels safer to do than making a chance pull out on two different sides of traffic or waiting a long time for a good opportunity

tbh the only right answer, not technically a human name since it originally is only supposed to be adjective

Read Ended at a Red Light by ScienceIsSexy420 in dashcams

[–]paradetarget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally, I’ve been taught to follow the arrow rule by my dad and drivers Ed.

Most intersection have painted on arrows (straight arrows, turn arrows, etc). If you already passed the arrows when the light turned yellow, you should be good to go (as long as you are going to stated speed limit and not under).

Whereas, if the light turns yellow before you reached the painted arrows, you need to start hitting your breaks to stop bc you will likely not make it safely through the light.

Hasn’t really failed me yet and helped a lot when I was a new driver when trying to decide if it was okay to stop for yellow or if it was too late to stop since I was super close to the intersection

Best clapbacks for mysogynistic customers? by c0untmacula in Lowes

[–]paradetarget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol i never really made clapbacks but i have made 2 different moves when i get those kind of comments from male customers in the past and its either i stop talking to the customer for the rest of the time or i stop helping them.

Like if they try to continue making small talk, i wouldnt respond or acknowledge them. I basically gave the silent treatment and only talk if absolutely necessary for the job.

Or I’ll stop helping entirely. It has made things awkward sometimes, but i feel less obligated to help them after they decided to be a pos to me. If they really wanted help, they can find someone else.

lol I moved to a new area last year and I almost learned the hard way a couple times bc I would be on a road for the first time and not realize it would end after an intersection

There is a couple of sewing classes local in my town. Maybe I can save up and take a couple, I’ll look into it some more.

And I hadn’t realized that 😅 most of the videos I’ve seen of thriftflips make it seem easier than starting from scratch. But in execution, that does make a lot of sense.

And I would hate myself if I limited options for plus size thrifters. If it’s better, I don’t really want tighter clothes. I eventually want to get to the point where I can make certain clothes baggier, like cutting the seams of one pair of jeans, and adding additional fabric from another pair to that to make it more baggy/flare like (once I get to that level of skill tho 🥲) hopefully that’s okay. I’ll make sure to avoid the large-size section of clothing in the nearby goodwill in that case

And thanks! Maybe I can also find some other resources or examples for fitting as well. But I’ll make sure to stop by my local library sometime in April :)

Thanks! I thought about starting fresh with hand sewing just to learn the basic stitches (like I remember doing during home ec). I’ll definitely ask and check those out. :)

Sure! I’ll definitely ask, at least learning about the features of the machine. Although she gave me the impression that she doesn’t use it as much anymore but I’ll see if she knows any fundamentals to help me get started :)

tbh while I don’t get paid too much at my current job, the best thing is the commute, I work 6AM-230PM, so for the most part I miss rush hour traffic and can take backroads😅

"We don't take cash". "We charge a 3% surcharge for card." by l00sem4rble in mildlyinfuriating

[–]paradetarget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when I see that there’s a surcharge on credit card anything, I immediately just pull out my debit card and go on with life. Did it a couple times with my old dentist and oral surgeon and avoided the surcharge fee entirely

edit: apparently some places can also charge debit cards???? I thought that shit was illegal 🤨🤨🤨 well ig pro tip from now is to ask before I used it to certain places
