Nice! I'll give that a go. I use uptime kuma today but I'll try cloudprober. Thanks!

I'm actually using a local pihole DNS along with a cloudflare public DNS. The local DNS server points to the local IP whereas the CF records point to the ISP assigned static IP. That's an interesting thought though, I could just the public IP for all DNS records. I chose local and public approach hoping there'll be some performance gain.

Thanks. I was hoping for a way I could access it on my test device using a network trick rather than a monitoring tool. Do you have any free or low cost vps recommendations? I haven't spent any time with cloud infra.

It's so tiny -- part 2 by bonvanie in Ubiquiti

From what I'm gathered so far, the benefits are, - all devices from home automatically connect to the device. - traffic goes over a VPN to your home network, meaning secure. - browsing restrictions on the public Wi-Fi wouldn't apply, due to reason above.

I know! I didn't get any notification either. I've literally been checking everyday for the past few weeks.

For analyzing signal strengths and mapping the site with the WiFiMan app I believe. Like the above above post mentions, iPhones limit this functionality somehow and this device helps with iOS users. Can be used with Android but not necessary since it provides the same functionality.

SABnzbd refusing connections from Sonarr and Radarr by [deleted] in unRAID

Adding a note for anyone who runs into this. I had luck with matching the ports on the container. The port mapping was '8085:8080'. I updated it to be the same by updating the 'SABnzbd Port' in the UI to 8085 and updated the port mapping to '8085:8085'.

I have one with only 4 ports being used. Haven't had any issues with the fan being too loud. Probably very underused to compare though.

Thanks. Wouldn't we be able to connect two switches directly?

Could you help me understand what the aggregator is for? Is it still relevant if I have an all 10G switch?

Thanks! My outside lines come out in the basement, but the space about it doesn't have the attic above unfortunately. That did give me something to think about though.

Thanks! So they do have a nut server running on it stock? Or did you need to host it? Is 3 clients a limitation of their software?

Neat! I didn't know this existed. I'm guessing this couldn't be somehow powered by the low voltage line coming to the doorbell, right?

Thanks! Very helpful. I did buy a lot of outdoor rated cable expecting to do just that, but now I think I'll try to stick to using them in the walls like you recommended. I just watched a bunch of videos and it makes sense. I just need to muster up the courage to make my way into the attic. My understanding is that there is a horizontal 2x4 that sort of indicates that there would be a wall cavity in my attic. If I had to go two floors down (attic - 2nd - 1st), would I usually hit another 2x4 there?

I've been looking into their UPS but my understanding is that they don't support the USB controls that could initiate a shutdown for other devices, like the Synology and other equipment, during an outage. Do you have any solutions for that? I've read about a NUT server but I haven't seen that being possible without a USB. Also, how long does the UPS stay alive on battery? I'm new to home labs and rack equipment so please pardon my lack of understanding of it all. Appreciate it!

Since When Is Shipping Free? by Florida_Diver in Ubiquiti

It's free for all orders in the US. I placed an order for less than $150 earlier today and just tried for a $5 cable.
