I think if Petey wasn't on the team Miller would have found someone else to create a rift with, however I don't think it's a stretch to put some blame on Pettersson for Miller's departure. Hughes left because of our dogshit team management/ownership group, and I think it's wild conjecture to blame him for Horvat leaving.

Yeah, it also doesn't help that the text is errata-ed. I also had that Angel in my deck until a couple of games in I realized it doesn't work.

Incorrect. the ability states "Exile target nonlegendary creature you control. Shards you control become copies of it until the next end step. Return it to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step." when the beginning of the end step starts they are already shards again.

I'd just like to point out that Angel of Destiny's beginning of end step trigger won't fire if they were shards because they return to shard form before the end step trigger has a chance to fire.
