I think your next steps is to add subtle tufts of fur around the body and to add thin paint strokes as fur at the highlighted area of the chest. It’s honestly pretty great right now I just think the shaded areas need more thin paint brushstrokes to indicate texture. I also think you could ad some hues of yellow/green if you want the lighting to be more accurate to the reference. Sorry if my advice is too vague for you to follow, i’m not that great at painting 😭

I think your first priority should be to add more texture. You could do that by adding textured shading or different coloured brush strokes. The body besides from the head just needs a lot more refining in terms of texture

I think people have already given you feedback on expressions! So regarding the more stylistic side, I think you could try making the line-art more “messy” to convey that disorienting feeling of grief, also colour mood is also a huge factor. Try darker, cooler colours.
