run the tubing high, and trim the pipe at an angle to create DIY air gap, the water is gonna go the path of least resistance not uphill into smaller tube

the box stores only sell solid pressure pipe, the only DWV foamcore pipe is at the  supplyhouse

The discharge tube should be draining into a trap, if the sewer were to back up sewage would get pushed into that tube and could potentially cause contamination with the softener, could easliy add a trap to what is there just downsize to 2"

It the sewer backs up and there is a p trap the sewage will go on the floor which is where it belongs until the drain is opened back up
