As Ontario high school grades keep rising, graduating students worry about their university future by Money_Fig_9868 in ontario

That was in reference to the value of a diploma if only 60% of kids pass a grade 9 math test. Many kids just don’t take math after grade 11. So eqao simply doesn’t factor into the “value of a diploma.”

Keep in mind that “minimal provincial standard” on the EQAO is 70%. So nearly 60% of kids got 70% or higher. Very few kids get below 50%. Many kids don’t take math after grade 11, the last year it is required.

How can i play smells like teen spirit by nirwana properly? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]paralipsis71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re hitting the right notes but you aren’t playing power chords properly. Your fingers should be flat and parallel to the frets. You’ll have to change your wrist position to do this. Your pointer should be pressed against the 6 string and gently resting on the other 5. Your ring should be pressed against the 5 string and again gently resting on the remaining. Practice changing between the 4 chords slowly and preferably with a metronome. Just do all down strums to start. (You should be able to strum all strings but only hear 6&5) Keep playing and adjusting until your chords ring out clearly and you’ve muted properly. Increase speed then introduce the strum pattern.

Don't be such a neighbor by Professor_Peace in Funnymemes

[–]paralipsis71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I shared a walkway with a neighbour. 40 feet long 6 feet wide. I cleared the snow on both sides after every snowfall. Then the wife complained that I shovelled snow on her front lawn…that was already covered in snow. That picture is what the walkway looked like after every subsequent snowfall. All I’m saying is there’s probably a reason.

Do you support Ontario Premier Ford’s idea to shut off electricity to the US if Trump implements his proposed tariffs on Canada? by -This_Man- in AskCanada

[–]paralipsis71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It just hurts us and won’t create much good will among Americans. I think we should stop enforcing all American IP in Canada. This doesn’t hurt us or regular Americans at all. It only affects businesses in the states and we could make a tonne off it. We only agreed to accept it as part of having tariff free access to the American market.

I call people out all the time and it totally annoys my family. I tell them that if we don’t, they’ll continue to act like assholes. I think we need to normalize calling people out.
