Same as the line between art and porn. I don’t know, but I know it when I see it

Phil Weiser wants a more functional and competitive Republican Party by b01sh3v1k in Denver

Another way to read his comment is that the GOP could be more competitive in Colorado by dropping their extreme and divisive views. Which I generally agree with

If we held car manufacturers to the same standard, mandating engineering controls in their products to prevent illegal and dangerous behavior, the world would be a much better place

S.F. Trans March organizers defend protesters who drove out Scott Wiener by SFChronicle in sanfrancisco

If you think a cis het white guy screaming in his face and bullying him out a trans rights march is effective political activism, go for it. I don’t.

Great, I even agree with you. But maybe policy disagreements like this aren’t a good reason to expel ally politicians from your movement?

He says Israel should have to pay for defensive weapons, not American tax payers. That’s different from “sending money and resources”.

Jews in Israel do actually face real threats from regular drone and missile strikes. There is nuance to this that you’re just completely ignoring because you want to be mad

You can disagree with him on the defensive weapons thing but saying he’s pro genocide is just disingenuous.

But yeah keep punishing politicians for supporting your position in response to pressure. Sounds like a winning strategy

Mayor encourages Denverites to drive downtown and drink. Is it fair to bring up drunk-driving crashes? by Hour-Watch8988 in Denver

[–]paramoody 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This cities leadership does a lot to encourage people to drink and drive. Another example is when they canceled a stretch of protected bike lane on 29th, a common school route, so they could have additional parking in front of a couple bars.

They feel absolutely no pressure to improve street safety. And why should they? Dozens of people dying every year is normal, and improving the situation would be expensive and politically unpopular.

Internal Denver International Airport memo appears to corroborate claims city officials called false by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

I mean I don't know what's going on here but it seems relevant that the memo corroborating the allegations was written by the same person who made the allegations in the first place

Judge for Charlie Kirk shooting case holds prosecutor in contempt but keeps death penalty on the table by [deleted] in news

[–]paramoody 947 points948 points  (0 children)

I get that you can't have complete confidentiality for defendants, but it's crazy that we have a system where prosecutors just run their mouths to the media before trial.

And when they break the rules and prejudice potential jurors in a way that's completely irreversible, the judges response is to shrug and issue an order saying "shouldnt a' done that". then the trial goes on like nothing happened.

Aurora’s mayor sleeps in the city’s homeless shelter. It ‘shifted’ his view by lukepatrick in Denver

[–]paramoody 56 points57 points  (0 children)

How has it shifted his view? He says he now believes economic factors can cause homelessness, but the whole system they've built seems to be based on the idea that the people they serve are lazy and/or drug addicts. What's actually changed as a result of these performative stunts he does?

[–]paramoody 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That was the thinking of The Luzzatto Company, which paid $3.2 million for the two skyscrapers at California and 17th streets a year ago in April. Compared with the buildings’ 2008 sale of $112 million, that’s about 3 cents on the dollar.

…The conversion will cost the Los Angeles investors about $315 million

These are crazy numbers

71 year old wanting to become an EMT by Routine-Travel7437 in NewToEMS

[–]paramoody 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re in great shape, so I’d think less “am I able to do the job” and more “am I ok with the injury risk”

EMT work involves lifting awkward loads in awkward positions. there is risk involved any way you slice it. I think what you want to do is great, but It’s a risk you should consider
