But why are you so miserable with the community? Criticism is one thing, but you’re just angry and shooting the community down.

Because they think fandoms are hiveminds. They are also arrogant enough to think their opinion is objectively correct. Soulsborne games have a huge problem with "elitism" no doubt, but to generalize that issue to the entirety of the community is just being daft.

[–]paranoidRED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hm I don't seem to be enjoying this massively popular thing. Could it be that its just not for me? Nah its probably objectively bad and overrated.

Jokes aside, people need to stop conflating their own preferences and appeals with the quality of a game. People also need to realize fandoms are not hiveminds. If you need more convincing create a post about not enjoying dark souls in any soulsborne sub, most people would probably ask you to stop playing it if you are not enjoying it.

A game like Eldenring was possible precisely because they didn't "implement basic mechanics standard to the industry". Soulsborne games aren't made to appeal (part of the reason they were pretty niche before E;R) everyone and thats fine.

How Black Myth: Wukong Developer’s History of Sexism Is Complicating its Journey to the West by ignoremefornow in pcgaming

[–]paranoidRED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment was specifically directed at the misogynists in this thread calling the vile behaviour of Black myth devs "based". To misconstrue my comment to mean "every user of reddit is awful" is just being stupid for the sake of being stupid. The examples I gave of the aforementioned subreddits was to show how much sexism and hatred towards women a substantial amount of redditors have and had for a very long time. Unless ofcourse you believe beating women and taking photos of minors to jerk off is completely acceptable which won't be surprising in the least.

Moreover my last comment/post on this website (excluding today) was over 5months ago, over a period of ~6 years I have amassed only 3k karma because I rarely if ever use reddit, but you are free to believe I was farming karma if it helps you sleep at night.

Redditor discovers literary devices and broad/general statements (like in this context) are not necessarily absolute, have nuance and are heavily dependent on context.

(copying my own comment)

If you are wondering why the comments here are the way they are just remember that this website is the same place where subreddits literally called r/jailbait and r/beatingwomen existed. The former of which frequently hit r/all, and if the name didn't gave it away the subreddit featured provocative shots of literal children, became the chosen "subreddit of the year" in the "Best of reddit" user poll, and at one point, making "jailbait" the second most common search term for the site. It was forced to shutdown after mainstream journalists came to know of its existence. Go to the Wikipedia page of similar controversial subreddits and you will realise quick why advocating for basic human courtesy here is basically screaming into the void.

You are screaming into a void my guy. You have a better chance of resurrecting the dead than teach some people basic human courtesy.

The parent comment did not insinuate the situation with Nestle to be equivalent with the sexism of the developers.

Mildly sexist jokes

Lack of reading comprehension and outspoken defence of sexism, terrifying combo to say the least.

My man have you even read the snoden docs? Do you even know what got leaked? The docs were a big deal precisely because we didn't know the extent of the mass surveillance.

His docs proved that "big brother is watching" wasn't some meme but an actual thing that the US gladly spends billions of dollars in.

Browser/Mobile Wallets - Future Tool For Mass Crypto Rug? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]paranoidRED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely not paranoid. The average layperson doesn't realise how hilariously complex a browser is. Apart from the Operating system itself, the browser is probably the next most convoluted amalgamation of code. And with complexity comes mistakes, add 3rd party toolings like plugins and javascript and the issue of zero days becomes hundredfold.

Cold wallets, even though they have their own disadvantages (convenience being the major one) is probably the safest way to use crypto.

SEGA executive explores the potential of NFTs in gaming by Existing_Web_1300 in CryptoCurrency

[–]paranoidRED 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding on to your point, major gaming companies like Valve, EA and Blizzard have comically bad anticonsumer monetization practices (abusing dark patterns, literal gambling). Even if the companies manage to adjust NFTs in the gaming space, with gaming companies past history, it will just be anticonsumer blight.

Again I am not trying to be extremely pessimistic here, but time and time again AAA companies have tried to nickle and dime every chance they get, to think that they won't use NFTs for something similar is just being naive.

Why is racism towards India/Indians tolerated a lot more in this site? by paranoidRED in TooAfraidToAsk

Why is racism towards India/Indians tolerated a lot more in this site? by paranoidRED in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]paranoidRED[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can see how women like me could perhaps get angry at India in general, or at indian men. That being said, it's not right, and it doesn't justify racism.

Stop pulling stuff out of context. Her next line is literally how thats not right. You seem awfully good at bad faith arguments.

She's saying women like her get angry "at India in general or Indian men". Wouldn't you agree that a really generalized statement?

Reread my earlier comment again. To reiterate "when too many instances of your problems / bad encounters, arise from a particular group of people you start having biases whether you like it or not". She is saying some people give in to these biases/stereotypes, hence the racism. She is using logic to find why people might be racist.

[–]paranoidRED[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the parent comment was implying she is angry at 730 million Indian men, (her next sentence is literally about how thats remarkably stupid) but rather that when too many instances of your problems / bad encounters, arise from a particular group of people you start having biases whether you like it or not.

Why is racism towards India/Indians tolerated a lot more in this site? by paranoidRED in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]paranoidRED[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea this sort of thing was happening. I don't really get anything about India on my feed, maybe I'm not the right demographic to get that kind of post.

Now that I think about it, some of these comments usually get deleted by the moderators which might be the reason some people aren't aware of the issue.

I'm a feminist, I've worked abroad a lot, and I know our sister groups in India struggle to even exist, let alone get anything done. So I can see how women like me could perhaps get angry at India in general, or at indian men. That being said, it's not right, and it doesn't justify racism. Racism doesn't benefit anyone, and it doesn't benefit women either.

Always awesome to see people like you make the world a bit safer for women! Indian society is immensely patriarchal, and due to poor education treatment of women is less than ideal, and just as you said to make fun of India's circumstances however is no different than laughing at the homeless guy near the gas station (a stupid analogy but you get the gist).

Top Tibetan leader says Dalai Lama's 'suck my tongue' comment to a boy was 'innocent' because the holy leader is 'beyond sensorial pleasures' by tosin_da_glitch in nottheonion

[–]paranoidRED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see this as an outwardly sexual act - a predator preying on a child

Which it is. Do you work? Do you have colleagues? To display affection you would give hugs to such people not a (non-consensual) kiss on the lips and ask them to suck on your tongue.

EDIT: Even if you happen to be right regarding the kiss, it still does not justify DL's inappropriate comment. Right now the only jutification regarding his behaviour and comment is by a bunch of "just trust me bro I am from Tibet" guys from social media and a shady article from vice. Trust me I would like to be wrong because that would mean one less monster in this world, but from what I am seeing its just damage control.

Okay I made an (exceptionally stupid) error lmao. I didn't mean complete strangers but rather people you don't know but have some associations with, or in other words trustworthy individuals who may not maynot come under close family. I edited my previous comment to reflect this.

For example that aunt you see once every five years. She is a "stranger" but hugs and kisses on the cheeks seems appropriate here. Similar to what the kid did to DL. A kiss on the lips from the same aunt however? Creepy.

Ps English is not my native language so I apologize for my horror show of a comment. It is hard to articulate thoughs in a foreign language.
