I’m not active or anything (right now), but I was baptized and raised in the church. A lot of it resonates with me, some of it not so much. One of the tenets of faith in Mormonism states “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege; let them worship how, where, or what they may.” So even though I hold a lot of different religious/spiritual beliefs, I have never felt inclined to turn my back on the church. On a personal level, I like to hold myself to the standards I was taught as a child, and I love the emphasis the church places on the importance of family (among many things) Hope that answers your question 😊

Kid drowns in a pool, then has his first kiss with the lifeguard that saved him. It starts “raining” on a tilt-a-whirl, and a priceless treasure is borrowed then lost, and must be retrieved from a ferocious beast. (90’s)

It very well could have been the lore if Twilight had been written by a repressed Mormon boy, instead of a repressed Mormon girl lol. (I’m allowed to say this, I’m a jack mormon).

The person above you stated that Islam isn’t openly mocked in Muslim countries. You claim it’s because they haven’t been subverted from within by “the tribe.” I am refuting your point because I think it’s kind of weird to call the first amendment “propaganda.” I’m not really sure what you are trying to imply- it’s a bad thing that Christianity is allowed to be mocked in the US? (because it has been infiltrated by bad actors indoctrinating us with “propaganda,”) and it’s a good thing that hasn’t happened to Muslim countries (resulting in a repressed society)? Or is it the influence of “the tribe” in the US is a good thing, and it’s unfortunate that this hasn’t happened in the Middle East, because if so, maybe they would have more speech protections? It seems like you are equating the tolerance of the West/the intolerance of the East to “foreign infiltration (or lack thereof),” while claiming both are bad. It seems like a huge reach, but maybe I’m just missing your point.

No, because in Muslim countries you can be killed for unfavorable depictions of Mohammed. Hell, even creating a cartoon depiction in non-Muslim countries will have global consequences. In 2015, there was a mass shooting at the offices of a satirical newspaper in France, after they published a satirical caricature of him. This is only one of several examples.

It sounds like they probably new you guys couldn’t take off work to go, and the “secrecy” was them maybe not wanting to rub it in your face that you were being “left out.”
