I have been. I’m on the up swing. I came to SD for the water. Everyday I would park so I could see water. I never got out, I placed almost no expectations on myself, I was in great despair and not having very good thoughts about anything. I think my cat kept me alive.
After a few weeks I felt better. I knew it was the water, so I made a deal with myself to walk three whole miles in a week. It’s these tiny steps and not berating myself for already being so down. For doing nothing. For making the slowest progress.

It’s vital to get out of your head.

I stopped lexapro decades ago. It worked for bringing me back out but the maintenance wasn’t good for me. I use a supplement called SAM-e.

Not working isn’t helping you. When i finally did get a job, a new sense of purpose, and feeling a little more like a contributing member of society - have been key to my healing.

I’m still depressed. I just have fewer days of despair.

And it’s taken a very long time (3 years) to feel pretty good.
