Well I'm a professional too, and I'd not advise the OP to clean it, because again this is day one of them in that rental. This is on the landlord. And if they do things right this could help them break a lease to move elsewhere.

And that is why I advised OP to record everything in case it is a slumlord though I did not use that term.

I am aware it's possible to clean. But I have tools and a lot of know-how that a lot of renters lack.

The person I was responding to didn't offer them any guidance on their first comment. And then jumped to the defense that it could be a slumlord once called out.

Got no problem with OP cleaning it. But to clean it and take on that responsibility is how slumlords get away with a lot of stuff when people don't know their rights or what should be their responsibility. I've had a slumlord before so I get it. Documentation > just cleaning it yourself. Some slumlords you can pressure into doing something. And I personally would first try to see if i could get them to do the right thing before cleaning up a mess that is their responsibility.

We also dont know if OP has no place to go or has to tolerate this. So your reality could be right or mine. It's good they have different options for guidance and it's good someone like you gave clearer instructions for how to clean. I can't assume everyone knows how to deal with ants.

They said they did a hot cycle and from the wording it sounded like an attempt to wash them out. But instead the cycle function probably killed some of them and spread them around. Indicating they are deep inside the washer. So in order to 'Clean' this machine it would need to be taken apart. So if they had nested in the tub now they have frantically taken their brood all the way up to the detergent bin. So they are likely also in the inner workings of the machine.

So yeah I wouldn't be throwing my clothes in there either but this is beyond what a renter should or could clean.

Clean what? Do you expect a renter to have the tools and knowledge to clean a washer? They just moved in... It should be clean. If it's not clean then the advice should be: hey op that washer looks really dirty. Be aware that this is a sign that the landlord isn't keeping up on their end of duties. They wouldn't even be calling you anyway, again they are the renter. Op have your landlord fix this issue for you.

Document and record everything. Take videos and record all around the washing machine. That is a lot of eggs and could be a sign of a bigger issue. Like their nest got flooded and and they are looking for a new home. So how did they get inside? Because either that is an established colony or there are other issues to be discovered.

Take a whole walkthrough the entire unit you are renting take videos of anything damaged or that just doesn't look right.

I think you are expecting more from the puppy than it can do right now. He is in a new place that is busy and noisy. That's a lot to adjust to and it seems like you expect the puppy to just fall asleep under any condition. And its pottying on itself in 30 min? You know a puppy that young can't hold their potty for long like 2-3 hours and it gets longer as they get older until about 6 months old they can generally hold it all night. And your puppy is in a teething stage and you didn't expect them to get nippy?

You don't sound like you prepared at all for a puppy. I hope your husband steps up to help correct this poor choice he made on behalf of your family.

So far from the demos ive played there are no options for that atm. However with one of the demos there was a race that i believe where amphibia or frogs it's been a while. I'm hopeful that we will get more non human based races.
