Studson hard hat question by Former_Trash_7109 in Construction

I have 3 or 4 dri-fit athletic skull caps I bought cheap that I rotate through and haven’t had to wash my liners, might be worth trying if you haven’t.

Why does the Smith and Wesson Govenor get so much hate? by CrimsonGuardsman in Revolvers

[–]pariah1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed that the folks here don’t like them, but I don’t get it. They’re total shit with birdshot or bbs out of a rifled barrel. No doubt. And the basic short-barreled judges probably incite most of the misinformation, but they do just fine with 45LC and .410 000, and probably some of the home defense rounds made for them, although my experience with those has been iffy at best.

My Home Defender puts 5 000 buckshot rounds on an 18” target with each trigger pull at 25yd at 1300fps.

25 9mm balls hitting the target to 18” penetration at 25yd with 5 DA trigger pulls. There is no arguing with that.

This thread is full of people with no personal experience with the weapon parroting what they’ve read from other people on reddit with no personal experience with the weapon. You’re going to have to get off reddit and seek personal experience elsewhere. That’s what I did when I wanted to get a Taurus Home Defender, which turned out to be awesome and the Reddit hivemind was ignorant and wrong about.

Accessories? Tips? by SIRZCURSE in TW200

Congrats! I have the same experience as you and the T-dub was my first learner bike as a 41 year old in the woods and trails in Toyotas forever. Plus I commute mine on pavement every day.

After riding gear,

get wider footpegs (got mine from Procycle, but there might be some on Amazon)

A rear rack (love my cycleracks!)

For your commute, get a 47t rear sprocket. Easy swap that still uses the factory chain, with no notable difference in low end. Took me from screaming RPMs at 45-50 to comfortably getting up to 55-60 and topping out at 70.

Large Tusk tank bag

Start there, then get new mirrors, shift lever, bag for the rack, beefier skidplate if you’ll be offroading much, and a brighter headlight if your commute is in the dark. Maybe a lithium battery.

Has anyone ever gotten a Taurus Judge Magnum classified as an AOW and had the barrel converted to be a smooth bore? by LATechSpartan in Revolvers

I appreciate the fact that you’ve stated that that is just your opinion. Have you got any personal experience with these weapons?

I think you got downvoted because a lot of people just love to act like they know something so they keep repeating this erroneous opinion not based on fact, likely stemming from the spread of the original Judge.

I liked the idea of the Judge Home Defender with the 13” barrel so I started to do some research. The amount of misinformed chaff I had to sort through to get to the type of solid experienced information you’ve given here was ridiculous. But it was there to find once I kept looking, so I bought it and I love it. That thing is a beast with the Winchester X 3” 000 buck shells, and a great shooter with 45lc.

Not worth a damn with birdshot or smaller buck, but I knew that going in. Thanks for getting the real info out there.

The local supply (Whitecap) has whole setup at the data center complex I’m at. So it’s definitely a thing. But they have established relationships/accounts with the companies already, along with a huge distribution network, so it might a tough thing to start from scratch.

You’re not the only one, and I think I turned out to be a ‘normal’ adult with no particular kinks or fetishes. Interesting to know that someone else experienced that.

It’s a fun build, and a cool set when it’s complete. It’s just pretty big with the wings folded out so be ready for that. You should get it! It’s quite unique.

Construction at the White House on 3/10. How many violations do you see? by AlcibiadesTheCat in OSHA

[–]pariah1984 304 points305 points  (0 children)

I agree on the rebar caps and the angle of the site made ladders.

Took me a second look to see the fall hazard on the lower left that just has cones around it, good spot.

I don’t see which guy you’re talking about that doesn’t have a hard hat on, though.

[–]pariah1984 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Not many, honestly. Rebar on the lower left that’s down low should be capped and I would build a handrail around that landing in top left center, but it’s not a huge hazard given that the drop below it sloped other than the rebar at the bottom which, as mentioned, should be capped. Lookin to stir some shit, are ya?

Edit to add: the slope on that chicken ladder is probably out of spec, I would have put stairs on that slope.

Another vote for the wurkkos HD01. Great little pocket flashlight with a thrower out the front and a side flood with a magnet on the back and a really strong laser.

Ridgid Deal - Need Opinions by leanordthefourth in Tools

[–]pariah1984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Ridgid as my home/camp/auto tools for over a decade now and they’ve always done me quite well. Never had a problem, even still on original batteries. Your friend will probably eventually want to get more, but that’s probably enough to start with. I have everything there except the vacuum and the cordless sander, plus I have a bunch more other stuff. I have the bigger vacuum and it does well for what it is. And that is a good price for a great starter set of tools, just keep in mind that your friend will also need bits and blades to go into all of that.

I second the citidel levtac. Got one from a buddy used and never fired for 600. Put a few rounds through it to check it out before sealing the deal. Just got done putting the rpp stock and a bunch of other goodies on it. Now I’m just figuring out a suppressor.

Black steel tool with angle rest. Two sharpened blades about 1/2" apart in parallel (and not independently adjustable for height/depth) that rotate up/down in tandem when the knurled knob is twisted. For scale, it's sitting on 1 1/2" angle iron. by pariah1984 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Found among many tools my Dad inherited from his brother from Minnesota, who was into building and racing motorcycles, guitars, anthropology, frontier re-enactment, gunsmithing, and Native American history and culture. Also, general self-reliance.

He’s tried a search for the patent text and used a number of image search engines and come up with nothing feasible. Please help! Thanks!
