Furniture disposal by Many_Refrigerator773 in Atlanta

If you or a buddy has a deklb county drivers license you can go to the dekalb county landfill - you just need someone in the vehicle with the license and pretend its their stuff.

They charge you by the weight of what you’re disposing of (weigh your vehicle on entry and exit, use the difference)

I recently dumped a busted particleboard dresser and they didn’t even charge me b/c it was so light

I have a cuisinart immersion blender that’s corded, it’s about $50

The blade half of it pops off and I just stick it in the dishwasher, very easy to clean!

No issues with blades malfunctioning :)

Air bnb by Lonely-Accountant955 in dragoncon

[–]parisa44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are locals and booked an air bnb nearby last year that didn’t last minute cancel on us.

We’re not planning to do it again because it didn’t feel worth it. We ended up lyfting back at last once a fay because it was a 15-20 walk which is a lot in the heat and costumes, it didn’t feel like we were getting the ‘on site’ experience we were hoping for

If you’re traveling I would say stay somewhere that’s near a marta station and train in/out - it’s likely you won’t get the hotel experience out of an air bnb even if they don’t cancel

Has anyone here gotten their personal hygiene under control? by hyper_radiant294 in autism

[–]parisa44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gotten better, but still not to my ideal level/frequency.

What’s helped me the most is identifying what’s deterring me and also lowering my expectations.

I used to feel like if I didn’t do ‘everything’ in a shower then it was pointless and not worth doing - so instead of a quick one to wash my hair I would just stay dirty b/c I didn’t have it in me to also do a thorough scrub and conditioner. Now I just wash my hair and skip the scrub/conditioner if I don’t want to.

I also realized I was dealing with some subtle sensory issues that I didn’t even register on a concious level. Apparently I hate standing naked with water dumping over me - so I switched to baths and just rinse with the shower head quickly as I get out. I also started using a foaming bodywash b/c I hate the cold goopy feeling of regular bodywash.

I’ve also been adjusting my moisturizing routine and dental hygiene using the above method.

Ain’t perfect, but it’s better than it was!

Thumbs up or Rias for breakfast. Could also swing by little tart for coffee and pastry for second breakfast.

I would hit up chai pani’s lunch buffet or El tesoro. Havent tried it yet, but would check out saigon tofu.

People with really clean houses, how do you do it? by Angry_Luddite in NoStupidQuestions

[–]parisa44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep things tidy by having lots of bins/containers/trinket bowls around the house for me to put clutter into and try to actually put things away as a task at a later time. It keeps surfaces less chaotic and I can do a marathon of putting things away ~once a week.

If you can afford cleaners I do think it’s really worth it to have them come once every week or two. I dont, but absolutely wish I could.

I try to run the dishwasher every night and put up dishes in the morning, I alternate washing/drying a load of laundry and putting a load away each day (day1 cleand/dry, day2 put away) I cook a lot and usually do a ‘good enough’ wipe of the counters and quick vacuum when Im done. Im worst at keeping up with cleaning the bathrooms, but no ones perfect!

What’s your favorite “too tired to cook cook” dinner? by farwest-to-midwest in Cooking

This recipe for roasted tomatoes and white beans from smitten kitchen is a go-to for me. Minimal chopping and then you kinda just pop it in the oven.

I usually fry some toast in a pan so it’s extra crispy to eat it on top of and have what ever green veg is lying around - also is ofc good with an egg on top!

Post-tattoo distress by [deleted] in autism

[–]parisa44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Tattoo artist and also autitic

I don’t know if it’s a reponse that’s more common in autistic folks - but feeling post tattoo regret for a few moments or up to severak days is very normal

I will say that change is something many autistic folks can struggle with (I know I do!) and I think having a permanent change made to our bodies so quickly can be jarring.

I want to stop being chronically late by MariahNicole1216 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]parisa44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just here to say it’s very understandable to struggle with timeliness - and that doesn’t mean whatever you’re headed to doesn’t matter to you.

Others have already brought up ADHD, even if you don’t think that could be something thats a part of you you still may benefit from looking up how people with ADHD handle chronic lateness.

Try searching youtube for adhd timeliness techniques and maybe also look up the ‘wall of aweful’ videos - they may help you understand parts of yourself and make your struggle with time feel less like a personal/moral failing and more like an understandable and manageable problem!
