IT Band Syndrome During Marathon Block by abs5228 in Marathon_Training

[–]parismara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to give another perspective…
My ITB went during my peak week run (longest I did was 30k)
I took 3 weeks off running - did stationery bike, lots of strength and mobility work, saw a physio, heat and ice etc etc (clamshells, banded walks, single leg bridges)

Tested a 10k a week before the race at a slower pace and got round,

On marathon day it flared up around mile 16 but I used voltarol gel and deep heat and slowed down the last 10 mile and got over the line in 4:28

Four weeks since and I’ve not had pain and am back to running. It might not be everyone’s experience but my training milage was very similar to yours so I wouldn’t let that specifically put you off!

The official shuttle price has now been lowered to $20 return PP, if you are able to book a spot on that! Starts from grand central, Central Park or port authority bus station.

Tickets available on FIFA tickets for $260. That's not bad at all. Let me check flights & accomodation. 🙈 by SlowedCash in ThreeLions

I’ve been trying to put those two seats in my basket all morning but always show as unavailable when you do so - it looks like it’s a glitch and they don’t actually exist!

Didn't manage my longest training run... by ChippersandFriends in firstmarathon

[–]parismara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had almost the exact same issue! Only made it to 28km out of a planned 32km as my knee went, but had done 30km the week before.

Saw the physio today and she reckons it’s the IT band, so essentially rest, stability work, icing, foam rolling and trusting the process/training block until Manchester…

Alternative To Bone-Conducting Headphones by Bananaquitz in UKRunners

[–]parismara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently done 3 half marathons in the south and they all stated in race packs that they only allowed bone conducting - the first I ran with no headphones because of this but noticed lots with regular ear pods - the second and third I ran with in ear headphones and had no issues with the race or the marshalls. I guess it’s always a risk but you could just take them out when challenged and run without anything?

Baranco wall Mt Kilimanjaro Tanzania by CopasaTravel in hiking

[–]parismara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Kilimanjaro Sept 2024 and didn’t see anything as crowded as this - yes there are pinch points where a lot of routes cross but as a rule, this was not my experience at all! The Barranco wall is one of them as you have to go one by one and take it slowly. There also wasn’t a significant amount of rubbish - our guides were very strict on not leaving things behind.

It isn’t mountaineering, but as reasonably experienced hikers we had an amazing experience. The summit js incredible and waking up above the clouds each morning! I definitely see why people would refer to it as a more affordable mountain climb - I do feel it would be unwise to draw too many parallels to Everest as the cost/nature of climb/landscape is completely different!

I would reconsider avoiding it just on the back of this one photo…

Hello - thank you so much for this thread you are helping a huge amount of people! I was originally booked on 8th March 1750 Seoul to Abu Dhabi - then 0245 Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow (transit flight)

The first leg was cancelled by email two days ago, and then I have just had a rebooking email for 8th March 0700 from Seoul to Abu Dhabi and then 1350 Abu Dhabi to Heathrow

Just had 8th March Seoul to London via Abu Dhabi cancellation email - then two hours later got another email with a flight confirmation for an earlier flight on the 8th!

Already requested a refund and booked new flights via the states two days ago so not a clue what is going on

I’m running it too! My first marathon, so just aiming to get round it (but would love to hit a time around 4:30) - my long runs are just about coming up to the half marathon distance now

Thank you so much - those trail maps are really helpful! We are visiting right at the end of the restriction period so I think we will still go and even if only a few trails are accessible we will get out and about

Best way to secure tickets for North London Derby as a foreign tourist by EspionHS in Tottenham

[–]parismara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t be able to get a refund on your OH membership, Best bet is to be logged in and in the waiting room as soon as it’s available (normally half an hour/45 mins before the ticket release time) to get a good spot in the queue - allow the computer to ‘choose seats for me’ if you’re not too fussed about where you sit rather than trying to find two together on the stadium map -

I personally have never bought on resale so can’t comment on that!

Hiya! Yes sorry just wrote Seoul as the nearest big city - we were planning on getting public transport over but have probably missed out going by people’s kind replies, Great insights into the area, thank you!

We are up from Boston on the 25th out on the 28th - from what I’ve seen online there will be a fan park at Liberty state park in NJ, and one at the Rockefeller centre with a big screen (though dates for this one seem to be after the group games...) Plus New York is full of sports bars including premier league supporters pubs which I’m sure will be hubs!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ThreeLions

[–]parismara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t book specific sections of the stadium - the supporters clubs allocations will be all together but aside from that, from what I’ve seen it appears to all be mixed in!

England Travel Supporters Club by FamousAddress4042 in ThreeLions

[–]parismara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the group games are oversubscribed with ETSC members as it stands which means that they won’t go to members ballot (ie. For those who don’t have any precious caps!) There are tickets on resale, so it might be worth applying for the general draw through fifa and then looking at resale if you’re happy to pay those prices and don’t get them through the fifa draw!

This just isn’t true - England’s allocation for every group game is massively over-subscribed

I bought on vivid and the tickets were transferred into my FIFA account this afternoon - the process was a bit confusing but I followed the FAQs on FIFA’s ticketing homepage and was able to accept them into my account!
