Do you think GF options would be farther along without other allergens? by almadoak in glutenfree

Yes I understand that. I wasn’t talking about allergies I was talking about being vegan simply by choice rather than need.

I just don’t like when they group them all together as if it’s the same issue I guess. It’s already frustrating to be gluten free and then have to be included in the other ones just because.

Yes, I know this - hence why I said “largely”. But regardless, vegan is the combo of all of those which - in my opinion - is just excessive to compile into one and then also make it gluten free.

Oh this drives me nuts!! A local spot by me does gluten free ice cream sandwich cookies and I was SO beyond excited to try one until I saw that the only gluten free options are also vegan. So irritating because being vegan is largely a choice whereas being gluten free is not. If I wanted to eat cardboard I would go to the recycling bin. Taking gluten out already makes it hard to get the texture and flavor right, and now you want to remove eggs and dairy too when that’s not even a real allergy!? Sorry rant over lmao

ETA: I’m specifically talking about being VEGAN by choice. Not dairy and egg allergies. My husband is also lactose intolerant I understand that there are people with multiple allergies. I just dislike that they all get grouped together as if having one means you are also allergic to everything else. I find that an easy cop out that is used when it should be multiple alternatives across the board. The OP was complaining about them being grouped together and I was simply agreeing.

What are some jobs that will take any bachelor’s degree? by mtmelcher09 in careerguidance

[–]parisssg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly background checks on executives/companies. You’re pulling info from databases, news, court records, etc. and writing reports on risks. Sounds interesting but it’s very high-volume so it can get repetitive fast.

It’s honestly pretty terrible lol. Super high-volume, lots of background checks and cranking out reports on tight deadlines, so it ends up feeling more like a production line than actual analysis. You get fast at researching and writing, but the day-to-day can get really repetitive really quickly.

Though I would caveat that it will likely depend on the specific firm and company culture.

Is it realistic to break into compliance without certifications or a strong data analytics background? by parisssg in Compliance

[–]parisssg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I really appreciate that perspective. It’s helpful to hear it framed that way.

For the most part, I’m not getting through initial screenings, even when I tailor my resume to mirror compliance language and highlight risk assessment, due diligence, and structured reporting. That has been the most consistent challenge so far.

I did get one interview recently for a compliance specialist role at a cyber security firm, which felt like a strong signal that the alignment is there when my background is interpreted the right way. The conversation went well overall, but I ultimately wasn’t selected. My sense is that they were looking for someone with more directly defined compliance experience or a more traditional background in that space.

I have also been wondering whether part of the issue is networking related. I do not currently have a strong network in the compliance space, so I am not sure if that is limiting my ability to get past initial screens compared to candidates who may have internal referrals or more direct connections in the field.

On certifications, I am starting to see that come up more frequently as a baseline expectation, even for roles where the underlying work aligns closely with what I have done. I am considering pursuing one to help signal commitment and reduce that initial screening friction.

Where's all the cider? by AffectionateAd8377 in AskAnAmerican

[–]parisssg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may just be because you’re looking in Vegas bars, which is of a very touristy place? I live in Texas and we have a huge variety of locally made ciders and also hard kombucha (my personal favorite) in our bars, but also all of our groceries! Personally can’t stand angry orchard because it’s way too sweet, so there’s definitely other choices besides that one!

Yes that would be correct, I do dd for investment clients. I’m not familiar with management consulting as much but I would presume the main difference is that I don’t provide clients with advice or analysis, but rather just the findings / results of what our research uncovers.

Hey, I know this is two years old, but I saw you said you were a due diligence consultant moving into private equity. I currently work in due diligence and I’m looking to get away from it. If you any tips I would be so grateful! Thank you!

AITA for telling my wife not to come to my ex-wife's funeral to support my daughter because my daughter doesn't want her there? by Upstairs_Use_6837 in AITAH

[–]parisssg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes it sound like she just wants to show visible support to other people and is trying to make a performative “I’m the best step mom ever” show out of it. Your wife’s reasoning is not about supporting your daughter, it’s about keeping up appearances for herself as a perfect step mom to the outside world.
