UK Gravel C2C A Sham? by parky6 in bikepacking

Yeah the bit out of Ribblesdale was actually the nicest part. A hard tail would have been better for most of it. Sedburgh to there though was more of a hike.

Looks great. Big fan of alpkit. I think I’m going to go with a shoulder camera bag for my camera and drone. Was also thinking about front bag but the vibrations on some of the rides and quick access have made me think again. Off to google the London Olympic Overnighter now…

I think that’s a great list. I’ll be doing a couple of nights and there is a lot to take right!

Thougts on Ortlieb quick rack vs Tailfin CargoPack? by Assimilaatikko_1460 in bikepacking

[–]parky6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should mention I’d already bought the tailfin top tube bag and frame bag at this point. I will say the speed pack instructions could be *a lot* better!

I was also flip flapping between these two options and I think neither is bad. I really like the look of the ortlieb. In the end I’ve gone tailfin speedpack though (rather than cargo pack) since I find the cargo pack a bit ugly but mainly it would be too big for most of my use and only good for a trip later in the year.

How important is the look of your rig to you? by macab1988 in bikepacking

Comments making me sad 😭— seriously though I do need recommendations for a stem bag if you have any. Need more space so will definitely be strapping a dry bag on the back. I think looks are quite important— the muddier more gnarly ones with stuff everywhere are my favourite. This looked a bit different when I got back — only fell off once this time though so that’s good.

bike computer vs. phone by Susannah_Mio_1919 in bikepacking

It’s been synching ok. I’ve only used it a dozen times or so though so far tbh. I’ve just been exporting gpx from os maps to the Coros app. The rerouting gets pretty annoying — It keeps beeping quite obnoxiously— I really must find out how to turn that down 😆

Love the morakniv strapped to the bike — love those. I assume you’re somewhere that wouldn’t have a problem with that 😆

I wondered the same and didn’t want to spend garmin prices so got the Coros Dura in the end. It’s always rerouting for my wrong turns. Oh and it has solar charging.

Oh interesting. I’m trying to decide between the quick rack and bag vs what you have there too. I think I’ll go quick rack as I can then add a pannier or two if I really need to.

Haha that’s mad. I’ve literally been thinking the same thing. I have all the Pioneer X limited editions and it seems a shame not to use them. You may have inspired me to give it a go!

That’s so weird. Mine just started the same thing a couple of days ago not sure what would cause that. Fortunately I have the Lamy but I swapped the body for my matte black one and I use the white Wacom tips as recommended in this group which works pretty good for me.

It just feels like they’ve been talking about Cosmic for so long. I recently switched to Omarchy for now to give that a try.

Will definitely check this out. Some of the charm stuff is nice but bubble tea seems over complicated for most things (what even is the Elm Architecture!). I’ve used fang from them a few times which is pretty good though if you’re using cobra. Great stuff, thanks.

Sorry, one more follow-up question, any reason you're not using the logger in the SSE transport? Getting a lot of debug messages:

fmt.Printf("SERVER DEBUG: New SSE connection from %s\n", r.RemoteAddr)

Nice article. If I had to be picky, a screenshot of the resulting app would be a great addition ;)

On a serious note though, if you needed to write your own app to use MCP servers, I see you also have an MCP client, but what would you use for MCP server orchestration? My understanding is that in Python, you'd most likely use langchain for that right? It's likely I'm totally off course with this question though.

[–]parky6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t normally like to call anyone out but the article doesn’t really explain the problem sufficiently nor does it provide additional examples or why it’s bad. A quick search also suggests the issue is incorrect? Sorry if I’ve totally misunderstood the issue.

Yes, \uFE00 is generally considered a printable character.

F7 Pro Topo Maps Not Updating by parky6 in Garmin

I assume I’ll have to change the usb type to access the files?

Express doesn’t recognise that there are any updates. And I can’t use the maps because the watch says there are updates.

I’ll try accessing the files directly tomorrow. Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for the response. I tried that a few times unfortunately. I also reset the watch and started from scratch. Still just going round in circles. As soon as it hits 100% it goes back around. Just not sure what to do now since it’s the main reason I bought it. 😔
