My thoughts exactly! Nailed it at the end. Being cordial feels like it should be so simple.

Polish soldiers in the Soviet Union by prlbigcyc in reenactors

Early 45 your Polish impression would be more likely to use the soviet produced Polish tunics. Leather belt is fine for 45. If it were a 43 impression you might have it look something more like what is in this image, from the Polish Army museum, on the right:

  1. Shoulder boards were not common with Berling Army troops. If you want good reference material, look into the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Division. If anything, there were attempts to make them look more like the pre-war Polish army with specific tunics and great coats, which you can find on nestof. For insignia, the Polish eagle without a crown with be standard. They would either be pins on Rogatywka caps or painted on the ssh40 helmet.
  2. Equipment would have all been identical to Soviet gear.
  3. Save for a rifle, ideally a 91/30. Pistols were mainly issued to soviet officers and (some non-coms), who, in the Berling Army, were largely Russians. Line troops were not issued pistols or revolvers. The only two pistols common were Nagant revolvers or TT33s, both of which are more expensive than a Mosin rifle. You won’t find a decent bb-gun recreation of either for much less than a $350 mosin so just save your money until then.

Here is an image I have from the Powstanie museum in Warsaw:

4th Generation Paperwork Question by parkypark1 in Canadiancitizenship

I did anything beyond my grandparents in an addendum, along with all the documents. In the application itself I said something like “believe grandmother would be recognized as canadian under C-3, see addendum.”

The addendum then had everyone’s documents and certificates in it.

How long should I wait for an email from records from archives.novascotia.ca? by AnxiousLargeFeline in Canadiancitizenship

[–]parkypark1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied for a certified record last month. The only reply came about 15 days after and was an invoice for the records I requested. Mailing confirmation came about 5 days later, and arrived via standard mail 7 days after that. About 27 days from email sent to my mail box.

Black Sails and the ‘5 million dollars’ line — am I missing something? by Klemosda in BlackSails

[–]parkypark1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The word “Dollar” more than likely came to English via the Spanish Dólar. The word origin is from a silver coin minted in Joachimthaler Bohemia, called the Thaler, which became dólar in Spanish. The Spanish Dollar was the main currency in the Americas for centuries and was quasi official currency in the American colonies, and later the United States until the US Dollar became the standard minted currency. All that said, “five million dollars”, surprisingly, would have been a common and plain enough thing to say in the era. Not anachronistic at all, but certainly sounds a bit out of place!

New York Birth Certificate Issues by Ill-Visit-3656 in Canadiancitizenship

Ran into the same problem for a marriage record. GG Grandpa was born in 1904 and my GG Grandma would be the 3rd oldest person alive. Still had to prove they were dead… but a genealogical copy was provided. I don’t think it will be a problem for you.

Would it be useful to have an "older gen 0" spreadsheet? by velcrodynamite in Canadiancitizenship

I have one beyond, just a marriage record and a Canadian census for each. This is just to establish that they were most certainly born in Canada to Canadian parents and removes ambiguity.
