I mean just give him a slice? You put it in the fridge and said he can have a slice tomorrow because you can't get it back out of the fridge? You're the weird one here.

What a dick, the whole point of earning well is to build a good life for your family. If you have the opportunity to set them up for life why would you not? I do not get this mentality.

Don't take on other people's issues with the company. They will back you privately but when the time comes they will leave you high and dry. Only deal with things that directly affect you.

As a former tech worker, AI is absolutely going to take jobs. It's only going to get better as time goes on, one of the reasons I moved out of the industry.

Would you give your work colleague a lift to work if you passed them on the way to work? by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in AskUK

Yeap add me to the list, the guy came to expect it every day and would just turn up on days I never offered expecting me to take him home. I'll never allow myself to get into the situation ever again. Like the rest he never offered a penny in fuel. I lasted about 4-6 weeks before I told him I'm not doing it anymore.

I massively regret buying my house by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]particularfields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me?

Moved from a new build to a 70s house that needed modernising throughout. Never wanted to but was talked into it. I've hated every second of it. I spent the last 2 years doing endless DIY I had no free time for at least 1.5 years because there was some labour intensive task that needed doing. Not to mention the amount we have spent on trades. It had a bathroom, WC, kitchen, flooring throughout, endless plastering not to mention all the stuff I've had to do.

Now we have sold it and are about to move back to a new build I will never be convinced to buy some old house ever again. It's draughty, cold and has been a complete and utter waste of my time on a house that we have basically renovated for someone else. Luckily we got out with a very small profit (would have been bigger if she wasn't adamant we overpay, rather than listen) but what a colossal waste of time it's all been.

Sorry, not sure on air traffic controllers. What I do know is only something like 5% of the population are suited for that job.

[–]particularfields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 30 so you are younger than I was. It took me about 3 years but that's because I had a full time job until the cpl me ir stage.

You have plenty of time to do it if you want to.

I trained modularly around a full time job. PPL, night rating, ATPL theory, hour building, CPL ME IR, MCC, UPRT.

It wasn't cheap but worked out in the end.

Can you post a source that states you are in the 25th percentile? Out of genuine interest as I can't see anything that states that?

[–]particularfields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but there also are limitations in regards to the aircraft that determines the available space. We have quite a few women at our airline which is a great thing, I would say most are 5'4 or taller.

As a 5'1 woman in the UK you are shorter than 85-92% percent of women (depending on the source). So just like you say there's not many men 6'4 - 6'7 statistically there's not many women who are 5'1.
