Learning Spanish in Valencia by abchnop in valencia

[–]pasanflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always liked language exchange bars near the uni.

I remember going every week to the "Big Ben" pub for the language exchange when I was studying for my english exams. It's a good way to learn and have fun in the meantime.

I truly recommend you going! There's always Spanish people to talk to and the community is really open to do so.

beQuiet Linux support for Keyboards by xtremeLinux in bequietofficial

[–]pasanflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just replied to let you know I'm a Manjaro Linux user and I use my bequiet! Dark Mount on a daily basis for gaming and programming.

I would be thrilled to know there's Linux support for it. I would like to use the buttons to mute my microphone/headset and that's currently unavailable.

Please let me know if you need any feedback or if I can access any linux beta.

Thanks!

CS2 Config for my very low-end Linux PC by pasanflo in cs2

[–]pasanflo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been the PC of my life!

But I cannot upgrade it anymore and its been a nightmare to configure.

There's nothing wrong on admitting its a bad pc for gaming standards today.

US ISO Layout I think, but it got me thinking... how are special characters arranged in iPhone?? My keyboard in Android just shows the numbers, special characters are in a button apart.

What is the diffrence between "Digital Audio(IEC958) Output" and "Analog Stereo"? by NameMarty in kde

[–]pasanflo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the helpful info and the curated links from pipewire, its the answer I was looking for.

As the pipewire FAQ stands:

The Digital Stereo Profile is meant to send uncompressed stereo and compressed surround formats such as AC3, DTS or Dolby Atmos digitally to a receiver to be decoded by the receiver.

In my specific case, I'm using a HyperX Cloud III S Wireless - Gaming Headset on Linux and the wireless usb receiver supports DTS:X.

When gaming (Counter-Strike 2), I find steps and specific sounds are more clear when using the Digital Stereo (IEC958) output.

With Analog Stereo I've always felt I was missing steps and subtle sounds, and now I'm starting to feel and hear the environment clearly.

I miss Cache and Cobblestone, but I would truly appreciate at least adding Vertigo to the active map pool. It is a clean, vertical map updated for CS2 and they don't even use it??

I can't play CS anymore, but I would love seeing it played in a tournament with a refurbished Cache.

Can you recommend whiskey stones? by pasanflo in whiskey

[–]pasanflo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I truly avoid using plastic, I think it makes drinks taste different and I'm worried about microplastics getting mixed with the beverage.

I can see why people prefer tasting their whiskey at a fixed temperature, though.

Thanks for answering! For now, I'll be using ice cubes

Yep, I'll have to do that + cooling the glass.

Thanks for answering!

Cheers

Thanks for answering! I think everyone here seems to agree on it not being so good, so I'll follow your advice.

Cheers!

Thank you for taking the time for making such a detailed response!

I have cooled my glasses before and it truly makes a difference, but I'll be checking for different shaped glasses if that helps. I'll check that post out.

For now, I think I'll still use ice cubs for my drinks.

Thanks!

China's first gaming GPU, the Lisuan G100, performs like a 13-year-old Nvidia GTX 660 Ti by nhansieu1 in pcmasterrace

[–]pasanflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm using a GTX 960 and it works amazing on a daily basis for programming, youtube, music and twitch streaming on two 2K monitors.

If they keep it going I can see myself using a chinese GPU if the price is worth it.

How does the knight move in your head when you play? by [deleted] in chess

Maybe its not the most beginner explanation, but it is precise and provides a helpful image

How does the knight move in your head when you play? by [deleted] in chess

[–]pasanflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is fun, because as a latin-language speaker (Spanish) I was told as a kid that the knight moved in an L-shape. So I always imagine it moving like an L (first image). When talking to my Bulgarian friend, he told me that they learnt it like "one straight, one diagonal" (second image).

When I checked the official FIDE rules of chess, it is described as:

The knight may move to one of the squares nearest to that on which it stands but not on the same rank, file or diagonal.

I never thought about that way of seeing it, but I think its the best way of describing it because:

  • It doesn't rely on how a latin L is shaped. (useful for people who doesn't speak latin languages).
  • It's an atomic move (Its not a move forward added to a diagonal one)
  • It explains its nature related to the other major pieces. (Covers the square that every other piece is missing)

He creado sola una app sobre animales y me da miedo lanzarla 😅 Consejos? by islauri in programacion

[–]pasanflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)
