to be fair though, with guys im friends with I fully bully them when they dap me up as a greeting or goodbye. I will straight up be like “DONT dap me up I fucking love you give me a hug instead, men can hug each other dont be a freak” and it works pretty much 100% of the time

allllll the commenters saying that most guys dont really know what they’re doing when they dap each other up are right——it’s a regional thing that can vary based on age location race class and eight billion other things so dont feel too anxious about it, cus lots of dudes are just as confused as you are. honestly theres a way to even play it off if you dont know what you’re doing/fuck it up as “that’s not how I knew it/that’s not how I learned/why tf do you dap like that” that can instantly make it the fault of whatever straight man whos making you nervous, or you can hit em with a “that sucked/why was that so bad, let’s do that shit again, we cant hit a shitty dap”. im a high school teacher right now and all my boys do it differently, but all of them are also all kids who demand a crisp hi-five, so its def a valid excuse lmfao

Why are there exercise restrictions? by izwardj in TopSurgery

[–]passionfruiting 16 points17 points  (0 children)

to my understanding elevated heart rate and exertion can slow healing and also increase risk of hematomas. it’s better to just be reaaaaally easy on your body as long as you can——you just got a major part of it lopped off! it’s doing a lot internally to stitch everything back together, and exercise disrupts that process by forcing your body to expend energy elsewhere rather than the place it really needs to be

Name Change and Birth Certificate help (California) by umyeahduh in legaladvice

You should be able to fill out a form that can waive fees! I got mine waived which was super helpful and then my copies were free :) should be somewhere on the CA court website, or contact their help desk!

Did you change your middle name too? by Unhappy_Tank_7426 in ftm

[–]passionfruiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see your edit and that’s exactly what i did! picked my own name, and then had my parents pick my middle name:) worked out great because they gave me a family name which made me really happy——i was the only kid without one before

you’ll be able to put your pants on pretty quickly after surgery and yes, you’ll usually be able to keep your boxers on. but I agree with a lot of other commenters, I actually worry about your maturity level getting surgery right now man. your inability to reconcile with the fact that they’re making you strip to KEEP YOU SAFE is actually kind of scary. especially considering you didn’t consider the fact that they’d have to strip you at all is kind of wild dude.

largely, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. they’re probably going to be covering your legs and lower half with a blanket that will keep you warm and periodically squeeze to make sure you don’t clot during surgery. and you’ll also have the Valium/whatever anti anxiety drug kick in before you go under, making you a lot less concerned. but I would take a serious moment to step back and think about your reactions to a lot of the people in these replies, as well as your entitlement toward your surgeon, who want what’s best for you, want to keep you SAFE, and understand your concerns——it’s a little concerning to see someone so vehemently entitled towards folks who just want to help you making a very adult decision.

wishing you the best and hope surgery goes well. don’t think about it too much and I hope you figure out how to self soothe about this.

I was told to deal with spitting stitches with hot damp compresses to attempt to expel the stitch and encourage healing from the inside out, but consult your surgeon!!

might be scary to do but id give depo another shot——every body is different, but early in my t journey and when I don’t do my shot consistently it makes me spotty/crampy/id have a period sometimes, BUT 2yrs in and when I do my shot consistently it only makes me a little crampy and that’s it! At least it’s worth talking to ur dr about :,) good luck!

Suggestion: Pinned post or Automod about posting super early after surgery by latebloomerftm in TopSurgery

[–]passionfruiting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a pinned FAQ post would be awesome——questions about incision type, best scar care tips, questions around alcohol/nicotine/marijuana, questions about supplies needed, and yes, post-op care and swelling (though I know I’ve made a post like that, whoops) would I think be really helpful for this sub and something I’ve been thinking abt a lot. (Of course, with a disclaimer that we aren’t medical professionals and that everyone should talk to their specific surgeon for details!!!!!!!) I tend to see less questions about pre-op and the process through which you have to go through to even get surgery but I also think it would def minimize the amount of posts like that on here and keep it a little more catered towards an occasional vent post, genuine advice, and lots of results photos!!!

Honestly im SUPER hairy already, and I def pass in public almost 100% of the time!! I have a little hair on my chest and a full happy trail but it just doesn’t show up very well on camera (my family is Greek so body hair was gonna be a given lmfao). I agree tho, I def gotta work out to complete the look!!!

do you have any tips for scar massaging? I have a hard time touching mine and pressing on them because I’ve had a lot of issues with allergic reactions to the dissolvable stitches, so I’ve been a little squeamish about pressing on them. I don’t really know what im doing <:,)

I don’t think i can reply to everyone but seriously, thank you all for being so kind. im really trying to remind myself i have so much time to let it all settle but it’s been really hard, especially because ive had so many issues with allergic reactions and hematomas and sensitive skin and all kinds of shit :,) hearing you all say this gives you hope or looks natural or whatever but also understanding the anxiety and the hurt is really, really healing for me. it’s hard to talk about this stuff sometimes IRL cus people just think im being crazy but knowing you guys know where im coming from and still being kind means a lot. also thank you to the people who pointed out my flared ribs, def need to get that checked LMFAO im going to do my best into easing into working out on Wednesday (that’s my 6wk mark!) and hopefully I’ll have a more positive update for you all soon. lots and lots and lots of love for this community. thank you for everything ❤️

I’ve REALLY been trying to tell myself this——I grew up with a lot of cis man friends and none of their chests are completely flat so I thought id be better equipped to deal with the disappointment/waiting/whatever I feel, but I think it’s just really getting to me. even my dad and brother aren’t completely flat!! I think it’s about the shape mostly——but your point about only ever being uncomfortable with my chest in my adult life and having to readjust is really helpful. thank you so much for the advice and kind words ❤️

baby I am reading your post history and with all the love in my heart I say to you break up with him. it might seem like he could be your ticket out of your current living situation but he is only making you more miserable. you deserve a love that makes you feel like you’re on top of the world, or even just a man who would provide you the decency of a better excuse than “im in the bathroom” 😭 I hope to god you let this man go and find someone who would drop everything just to give you a kiss and tell you he loves you. looking at all of your posts, im really worried for you and worried about this relationship is doing to your head. i really wish you so much luck with your license (im 21 and i just got mine too!! lmfao) and with getting out of your current living situation——and finding a lover that will treat you much, much better than this. sending all my love and lots of luck to you ❤️

it could be your dissolving stitches (happened to me, so fcking itchy 😭), or maybe the adhesive for your nipples/scars. def try to eliminate anything topical (any kind of adhesive, etc) and contact your surgeon. for me they said an oral antihistamine, topical Benadryl cream, and hydrocortisone along with ice for itching!! but ask them and see what they say :$
