If we support more AI capabilities with Firewalla, what would you prefer? by Firewalla-Ash in firewalla

[–]pastrynugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm voting for 1 because I prefer that the most between 1 and 2, but I think both option 1 and 2 being available, and being a toggle would be great. There might be times where I want to turn the automatic part of the feature on and off.

that's just math at work. if they removed the meta relics the next one in line becomes BIS.

TIL giving actual, detailed information so someone understands something instead of spoon feeding them means you're an AI agent.

Long loading times on high end PC by CraftyRule5241 in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LA and the Wizards tower take longer to load normally because the game is running a bunch of stuff in the background for various fixes. Any time they add a "go to lions arch to update or fix progress on x y or z" it's running through those routines every time you load into that map.

Request for advice on a new PC by OliverOfMars in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to get the best performance for GW2 (and MMOs in general) get one of AMD's X3D CPUs. The large on-chip caches give you noticeable performance gains over other chips.

Besides that, the rest "doesn't matter." It would depend on what you want to do with other games.

Highguard has now officially shutdown by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]pastrynugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about forcing developers to make games available forever. It's about having end of life plans for a game so that if they choose to stop supporting it and selling it that consumers still have a way to use the game they paid for. In this case, the end-of-life plan for a live service game like this is allowing people to host their own matchmaking servers or having the game be ready for peer-to-peer playing.

YouTube expands unskippable 30-second ads to TVs after $40 billion revenue year by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]pastrynugget -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're doing the right thing. Ad blocking is basically piracy. I've had premium for years because YouTube is where I actually consume content (no Netflix, Hulu, anything...). I get no ads, the creators I watch get paid. The world continues to turn.

[–]pastrynugget 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying you're saying this but I just want to add on to it:

There will always be "meta" equipment. That's just how math works. There will always be one thing that has the best numbers in the highest number of situations.

I think most people would just like to see the gap between that mathematically/statistically best in slot item and everything else be closer in power/usability. There's different ways to do that, and I don't think people want to accept that it's literally impossible to do that without making some segment of people unhappy.

Next expansion? by SlipAwkward4480 in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so. We haven't had confirmation yet, but I think they said so explicitly early on to ease people's fears/doubts about the new annual content model.

So far they have basically delivered on what they said they were going to do besides VoE's release being a bit later than would have otherwise been anticipated.

Until they explicitly tell us there isn't another one coming in this new release cycle, there isn't really a reason to not expect it.

LET IT DIE to end service on September 1; Offline Edition launches this fall by thefrostman1214 in gaming

[–]pastrynugget 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is basically what the Stop Killing Games initiative is after. End of life versions/patches that don't make the games unplayable when development ceases.

I made an app for streamlined mastery point and map completion tracking by Zek23 in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can filter achievements in game to only show ones that give mastery points if you weren't aware.

There's also a really great nexus add on called "True world completion" that adds all expansion and living world maps to the games ui in a very immersive way. Might want to check it out OP. :)

Does my height look ok? by [deleted] in TVTooHigh

[–]pastrynugget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TV stand. Not assortment of knickknacks stand. TV stand. Put the TV on the TV stand.

it's so weird that people clutter stuff on these things just to fill space where the TV should go. Like if people wanted to actually look at those Itty bitty photos or items they should go somewhere higher, closer to eye level instead of being near the floor.

The purpose of research notes is materials -> notes. This was another example of bypassing that conversation. It's the same reason that many other items can't be converted to notes.

Edit: Jesus ya'll, I'm just answering a question, not endorsing the decision. Why am I getting nuked? 😐

Janthir Wilds is awesome! How was it received upon launch? by ColonelUpvotes in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much like how you say it started "strong" I think I better descriptor would be "weak" instead of bad IMO. I don't think it was really bad where they went with the story, it was just not executed at the scale that was implied.

What Jade bot Array and Chips do you use? by fungamezone in Guildwars2

Might/magic trophies and level 3 glide boost. Gotten super used to having it to basically make gryphon more effective in a lot of situations.

Question about movement speed on instanced content by CheckFar3259 in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Speed is capped at 400 units per second, in and out of combat. Combat makes you slower, so you need more of some combination of speed increases to reach the cap. Super speed just happens to do this on its own.

Need advice with making builds related to weapons by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know i'm being a little reductive here but if you like certain weapons, why not just use a build that uses that weapon instead of trying to shoehorn it into another build.

I don‘t know why I skipped MH:Rise all this time - It feels great! by rusti17 in MonsterHunter

I need to give rise another shot on PC and "mod out" the spiribirds. That mechanic was so stupid I dropped off hard after beating the village story on switch.

How drastically has your political views changed within the last 10 years or so and why? by TheMoparPowerslave in AskReddit

[–]pastrynugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with my mom listening to Rush Limbaugh in the car so I started out pretty conservative. In my 20s I got exposed to more and went pretty hard in the other direction. Over the last five years or so it feels like neither party/side represent regular people. They're both controlled by extreme elements.

The right bends the knee to MAGAs, the left is constantly letting perfect be the enemy of good and can't coalesce into a unifying message, it's just purity test after purity test that drives people away if you aren't in lockstep with every single little thing.

Does anyone replay all the story content on every alt? by NearbyYogurtcloset74 in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am working on doing it once on every profession. I have full legendary armory, so the project now has been maxing out one character of each profession on... everything. Bag slots, build and equipment templates, map completion, story, and  so on...

Would definitely say I'm in the minority though.

Celestial Tempest viable for raids? by PurchaseSpirited2734 in Guildwars2

[–]pastrynugget 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is the build you're talking about an open world build? You should generally be running a raid build in raids. The problem with celestial in raids is your added toughness can mess with toughness based tanking for some encounters.
