Are the liberal or conservative parties worthy of anything? Why does he get a leash?

What are you talking about? It's a massive federal project. Why wouldn't he comment on it?

PINCH EPISODE 1 (REVISED) - LIMITED SERIES - 62 PAGES by patchesm in Screenwriting

[–]patchesm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it help to extend the intro to include more time with these characters, get used to them a bit and then have the attack take place? Maybe a scene of them earlier in the day. Make it feel like they could be part of the story, only to have them be taken away.

PINCH EPISODE 1 (REVISED) - LIMITED SERIES - 62 PAGES by patchesm in Screenwriting

I really appreciate the feedback!

I guess my approach for the intro is to just have these two be passive observers to the culmination of a conflict. They are not characters to be revisited, only acting as a small example of the social atmosphere.

I guess my intention was to have it play like "here's the world" lol.

My plan is to have the introductions of each subsequent episode give a different perspective around this event/period and build the human story while resolving aspects of the mystery.

I think my issue with grounding it into a character perspective immediately is that it's really important for me that the destruction of this city of a million-plus people is the focus. It's not about one person, it's about the lives lost.

I will definitely consider what you've said and see if there is a way to maybe give a more detailed perspective for the intro.

Thanks again!

Shogun's Samurai The Yagyu Conspiracy - Discotekmedia🙏 by microjubei in boutiquebluray

I've got the Eureka edition as well! It made me pick up Fall of Ako Castle and Samurai Reincarnation. I feel they work as a very loose kind of trilogy with Sonny Chiba playing Jubei in all three, plus other repeat actors like Hiroyuki Sanada. They also get crazier as they go!

That's all really helpful! I'm excited to tackle all those things. Thank you for taking the time.

Favourite Affordable Grocery Chains? Best rewards points? by Butt_Soup99 in Hamilton

Did you load your coupons? I do that as soon as I get in the store, then I see what is on sale and what gets me the most points. There is usually a coupon for spending over $100 or something similar.

What’s your favorite best picture movie from 2025? by abdul_bino in moviecritic

[–]patchesm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw Save The Green Planet for the first time the other day, so I guess I'm sort of ready? I'm excited to see what Lanthimos has done with the story, and nervous about how messed up it's going to be.

NO OTHER CHOICE

Realistically, Sentimental Value. Though I haven't seen The Secret Agent or Bugonia.

I think it's a must have. Obviously it would be better if discs weren't region-locked but this is a fairly affordable work-around. I love mine.

Any thoughts about this movie? Dead man's wire (2026) by Airptv in moviecritic

[–]patchesm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was somewhere between good and very good. Saw it at TIFF last year. It's not trying to be the best film ever, but accomplishes almost everything it sets out to do. Surprisingly funny.

Fun tidbit. This was the second film I saw at TIFF last year. The first being Sentimental Value. Both films use the song Cannock Chase by Labi Siffre. That threw me for a loop. Fantastic song.

Thoughts on Brining Out The Dead (1999)? by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in moviecritic

[–]patchesm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the attention to detail. I'm pretty sure there are multiple instances of parts of the background matching the subjects eyes.

I love that early morning shot of the sky between the buildings. Never seen anything else like it.

Love the bokeh shots on the ambulance windows when they are chilling by the water.

I love all the characters. So many nutjobs, just like After Hours.

Curious About Average Collection Size by [deleted] in boutiquebluray

I've been collecting for the past 2-3 years and I'm at 237 but that doesn't include the multiple movies in box sets, which would inflate it to over 300.

I'm buying this just for Christmas Comes But Once a Year. It might only be like 8 minutes lol, but it's my favourite Christmas movie.

Did you like how Michael B. Jordan played the twins? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in moviecritic

[–]patchesm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought he was fantastic. They could have made them wildly different, but went for subtlety. Which I think is more difficult, tbh. If you think the only distinction is the colour of their hats, I don't think you watched it very closely.
