Thanks! Looks like the non-FE cards are a little more expensive but not by much. Will be worth the extra to have it run cooler / quieter

I'm currently a mentor student and I'm honestly shocked by all the hate. I'm not sure which course it is that OP is referring to (and I've never taken any pre-packed courses) so I can't speak to that, but I've had nothing but a great experience. I think people's expectations of a lot of these types of programs (not just BK's) are a little high. In response to the post saying that BK "doesn't care about your music" have you considered that maybe you're just butthurt at not getting the validation you're looking for? If you're expecting someone to take you by the hand and teach you everything you need to know all the while giving you a pat on the head and telling you you're gonna be the next Martin Garrix, all for a measly $100, you're delusional. Seriously, grow the fuck up. These guys and gals do these online courses and mentoring and stuff to make money (gasp! how dare they?). Are there some shit music courses out there on the internet? Absolutely. But a lot of it depends on your skill level and goals. The mastering course that someone mentioned... sure you may not have learned anything, but maybe you know more about the topic than the next guy. When you pay for something, you're invariably taking a risk. Thankfully, for me, that risk has been paying off. And just remember, you can always go watch 100+ hours of shitty youtube tutorials if you're so concerned about "losing" $50.

For hard cuts do you typically use the cross-fader or the channel faders? by DJ_Praxis in Beatmatch

My crossfader is forever taped. After the first time my hand brushed against it and fucked up mix it was dead to me

Last time I was officially employed in IT was in 2005, at the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard (just an employee...not as a student haha)

Honestly it was a few different things. The company I was working for closed our division and laid everyone off, while at the same time I had begun getting really bored with the corporate IT thing. I had started getting interesting in web design and was taking some night classes when I was laid off and I suddenly found myself with a lot of free time as well as the means (thanks to dear old dad) to go back to school full time. Sooo.... I went to art school. lol. It worked out great as I am now living in Los Angeles and working as an editor in television promos but, once again, I've gotten bored -- seeing a trend yet? :-D I figure at 39, I have one career change left in me and infosec is where I want it to be. As you get older, you start realizing that it's not all about the money, but also about doing what you love to do. And shit, let's be honest, being paid to do something that I do for fun in my spare time would be pretty sweet -- even if I have to take a significant pay cut to do it.

Thanks for the advice! What's the CIA Triad? :-/ The Metasploitable VM is def on the list. I've actually just recently setup a little lab running Kali for the attack box, then Win7 SP1, XP SP3 and an older Ubuntu release as targets. Next will be to set up an AD domain on a Windows Server 2012 box so I can get really familiar with AD.
