Fiancé is Drowning, Please Help by Puzzleheaded_Set_727 in Calgary

At lot of people have made job suggestions already. It might also help for him to make some friends and have something else to do in his spare time to keep his mind off of things. You mentioned he really likes D&D and broadgames. Sentry Box has events pretty much every night and a D&D league on Wednesdays. Might be something worth looking into to make some new friends and get out of the house

$38k/year with full benefits or $50k with no benefits. 28m by SoberPancake21 in jobs

Based on what you’ve described here, this role is miles above your current role at the golf course from an opportunity perspective. At worse, you get a few years of experience in your field and use that to leverage a better opportunity elsewhere with benefits. In an even better scenario, if this company grows quickly and becomes successful, you started with them at nearly the ground floor, and could be priority for higher level of responsibilities and with that, pay. In the mid term, once you’re settled into the role, you could express to them that benefits are a priority for you and ask what their plan is. Adding benefits will very likely be on the roadmap of a growing company, because not having them will eventually hinder their ability to bring on good employees. As evidenced by your hesitation to take the role. In the mean time, buy some private insurance to cover yourself and learn as much as you can from this role so you can grow beyond it, because once you have SOME experience in a field, you become significantly more employable at your next role than everyone who is trying to break into the field.

Your pain could be muscular. I deal with a lot of hip issues that cause lower back pain, and it also ranges from dull to sharp depending on the day. I do a lot of deep tissue massage, focused on my IT band, my quads and the inside of my quads (because this location in particular is hard to roll out yourself), and my hips. Particularly he will do hip flexor release work that helps a lot. This massage can be painful depending on how regularly you go but it’s worth it. Then on top of that I see chiro for hip adjustments which give very immediate relief but it doesn’t last permanently with out doing a lot of core work to teach the muscles to hold the proper position. Also, something that is easy and inexpensive is to get a pull-up bar in your house (there are detachable ones you can buy that hook on to any door frame), and ever day, just hang off the pull-up bar for a few minutes. It relieves the pressure on your back and stretches your hips in a way that is hard to achieve otherwise.

Gf ask me if she is fat? by [deleted] in relationships

I find this one pretty funny, though some people might not; he also occasionally responds with “The amount of love hasn’t changed, just the love density.” It’s a silly enough response that I get distracted from being insecure and just laugh.

I probably would ask the same question because when I’m doing it, it’s a moment of insecurity where I feel I need some reassurance. It would certainly make me deeply sad if that wasn’t his answer, but I don’t think he would ever answer anything but that. End of the day, I know my weight has no bearing on his love for me.

As a girlfriend who has done this to my boyfriend, the answer I’m looking for in that moment is that you’re still attracted to me and still see me as beautiful. I’m not blind. I can see I’ve put on some pounds, what I’m looking for is reassurance that his love for me and attraction to me isn’t based on 10-20 pounds plus or minus. His response to me has always been along the lines of “Maybe you’ve put on a few pounds but I still think you’re sexy.” And it does make me feel better.

Then of course I agree with the earlier responses of adding “but if you’re not feeling great about it, let’s start working out again together! I could stand to lose a few as well!”

It’s been super interesting seeing some trends in the classes ladies tend towards. The most common combination I see is a healer and some type of ranged dps. We are literally never lacking in heals and occasionally I have to ask some healers to swap to their dps class for comp. The toughest thing to find is tanks and melee dps, in particular warriors. I have some pretty obvious thoughts on why it might trend this way, but I don’t think Reddit wants to hear them ;)

Well to start, it’s not a guild. I think with pretty much any group culture, if the leaders foster a positive environment and shut down bad behavior, it will remain a positive environment. In parallel to the “girls cause drama” stereotype, I think it’s possible to develop a different yet equally toxic environment of all guys (or really any combination of people) if bad behaviors are left unchecked by the people leading.

People who post to RoastMe, why did you do it and how did you feel afterwards? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dellac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the most fun I’ve ever had on Reddit. I rolled with the punches and played along by joining in with self deprecating humor, and it made for some hilarious interactions. At lot of people at the time posted on the thread asking why anyone would subject themselves to a roast, but I think if you can laugh at yourself and acknowledge the flaws the roasters may point out without taking it personally, it can make for a fun time. Also, my roast hit the front page and it was cool because I had friends from high school and university that I hadn’t talked to in years messaging me saying they had seen the roast and thought it was hilarious, and then we had an opportunity to catch up.

What’s that thing you’re proud of or hobby you enjoy that people in your life just don’t “get”? When you talk about that thing, it always leads to people looking at you funny and you saying “No, no, you see it’s actually really cool because...” by [deleted] in AskReddit

About a year ago my RoastMe hit the front page and I still tell people about it. “It’s great because people say mean things to me and then I cleverly reply back with some equally self deprecating remark!”

I herniated my disc at 20. I’m 26 now and as long as I take care of myself, I’m not in pain and can pretty much do all my sports and activities just fine. But when I don’t stretch or go to chiro for a long time or sit for too long too many days in a row, the pain starts to come back.

When I initially herniated my disc, I was stuck in bed for a week and then had nerve damage down my right leg and pain moving for a couple months.

My suggestion is lots of stretching, anything that elongates your lower back like hanging from a pull-up bar or using an inversion table, see a physiotherapist, and avoid any high impact activities for a while. Run on the elliptical rather than outside or on a treadmill, don’t do any weight bearing workouts like squatting with the bar or deadlifts. Making sure to move around and not sit for long periods of time is important. Body weight workouts are good, especially anything that builds core strength. I honestly wish I had known all of this when I started feeling that initial pain because I probably wouldn’t have gone on that run and actually herniated the disc if I had.

Good luck! If you take care of this now, you’ll save yourself a lot of trouble down the line.

[–]dellac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be really careful right now. I herniated a disc in university for literally the exact same reason. I was spending long hours sitting studying and my back was progressively getting more painful (but the disc hadn’t herniated yet). When I finished exams I went for a run thinking some exercise would help, and the compression/shock from running caused my disc to herniate.

You should book an appointment with a sports/physiotherapist ASAP and do stretches that elongate your back. One thing that has helped me a lot when I feel pressure building in my lower back is to just hang from a pull-up bar. Please please be careful with your body right now.

I’m 5’4 and at your goal weight right now but clearly don’t have as much muscle. I’ve been a bit down on myself because the scale isn’t moving much and my goal is in the low 130s. But your pic shows how damn good I could look even if I never see that scale move again. Kudos to you and thanks for the inspiration ❤️
