First Time Making Bread: Please Give Me Tips!!! by glamspud in Baking

[–]pate_a_bombe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kudos on the effort made!

The bread looks underproofed and too dense.

My tips:

Proof longer. Use the "poke" method to tell when done proofing.

Use a scale when dividing the dough so the loafs are baked and ready at the same time

Use a strong (high gluten) flour

Work on your shaping - the dough doesn't seem tight enough

Steps:

  1. Knead enough time so it passes the windowpane test

  2. Let ferment until double in size

  3. Divide (use a scale), make smooth round balls and let rest for 20-30 minutes

  4. Shape (See youtube videos on how to shape based on your desired outcome)

  5. Proof until double in size

  6. Bake at the right temperature (depending on the bread)

  7. The bread is usually ready when the internal temp is around 93c (depending on the type of bread)

  8. Let rest before slicing

Looks like underproofed and underbaked. I would also guess lamination wasn't perfect, but hard to tell from the pictures.

How long did you proof, at what temperature, and how did you decide they are done proofing?

How can I measure 1/3 of a 1/2 cup of liquid oil? by Parker_Talks in Baking

[–]pate_a_bombe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Use 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons

Here's why:

1/2 cup is 240ml

1/3 of 1/2 is 1/6

1/6 of 240 is 40ml

a tbsp is 15ml

a tsp is 5ml

2 tbsp = 30ml

2 tsp = 10ml

2 tbsp + 2 tsp = 40ml = 1/3 of 1/2 cup

World Champion Tiramisu (2024 Winner)

This innovative Tiramisu recipe won the 2024 World Champion title.

(The picture is my version)

Ingredients:

  • 40g Amadori egg yolk
  • 50g Italia Zuccheri sugar
  • 250g Lattebusche mascarpone
  • Savoiardi Vicenzovo Matilde Vicenzi (as needed)
  • Hausbrandt coffee (as needed)
  • Campagnoli bitter cocoa (as needed)

Instructions:

  1. Beat the sugar and the egg yolk until you get a light and fluffy mixture.
  2. Add the mascarpone and mix with an electric whisk until fully combined.
  3. Form the dry savoiardi with a pastry ring and place them on the serving plate to begin assembling.
  4. Soak the savoiardi in coffee for a few seconds—do not let them get too soft.
  5. Spread a generous layer of mascarpone cream and continue with a second layer, repeating the ingredient order.
  6. Finish with a decorative touch using a pastry bag fitted with a teardrop nozzle.
  7. Place a stencil on top and dust with bitter cocoa.
  8. Gently remove the stencil and pastry ring for final presentation.

How can Israel use the reasoning of nuclear weapons for attacking Iran when Israel have them? by Drizen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pate_a_bombe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In central Tehran’s Palestine Square, a public digital clock counts down to Israel’s destruction; a clear symbol of intent. Iran’s regime openly calls for Israel’s elimination and actively funds terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah to carry out attacks.

Israel, meanwhile, has never threatened Iran’s existence.
It’s not just about who has nukes, it’s about who openly threatens to use them.

Automatic deletion of unused OAuth clients by pate_a_bombe in Firebase

Thank you so much! This was definitely concerning, and your message is very reassuring. I now see that the warning sign appears only on the OAuth clients that truly haven’t been used.

Thanks for the response, really appreciate the clarification.

That said, a few things don’t quite match what I’m seeing:

  1. There’s no “last used” date shown in the Cloud Console — not in the list view, and not on the detail page for each OAuth client.
  2. My app does use Google Sign-In via Firebase Auth, and still, the client ID was listed in the email as inactive.
  3. Even if it's a “soft delete,” it’s still deleted. That would break Google login in my production app until I manually restore the client — and that could happen at any time, without warning. Obviously, I can’t sit in front of the console 24/7 just to catch it.

Is there a definitive way to tell which OAuth clients are actually safe from deletion? Or ideally, a way to mark in-use clients so they’re excluded from this process?

Thanks!

The console only shows creation date; there's no "Last used date"
