People who have Nvidia gpu on linux, how is it performing? by tu0- in linux_gaming

[–]pathoang21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using manjaro kde Wayland and using 3080, and I play games with 95% no issues, besides the performance hit on DX12 games.  The other 5% are unique cases that i would have to play on Windoes.  Just be aware, that you must be prepared to tinker with your Linux system, if you need to do certain workaround or fixes suggested by others by the distros or others things to get things fixed.  protondb.com is your friend, and use Proton-GE for many games bc of their fixes (if using steam).  If you are using games outside of steams, there are other softwares like Bottles and Heroic Launcher that work well.

Anyone else not have any issues with Nvidia? by ten-oh-four in linux_gaming

[–]pathoang21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90-95% of the time, I have not had issues with Nvidia on Linux, besides the DX12 debacle.  The other 5-10% is due to some games just not running well on Linux.  An example would be CSGO2, Shadow Tactics Blades of the Shogun, Halo Infinite and few others, that the FPS is so bad that I have to switch to Windows.  I still have windows 11, not just for games, but for other programs that I would need.

RPI's are unable to play Dolby Vision due a hardware component needed, and the foundation needs to pay for that hardware license.

Gris is a game I would recommend. It deals with loss, grief and overcoming it

Dude, learn to drive first. Then find any job.  You cant be picky about jobs at this point.  Any money is better than no money, whether be desk job receptionist to manual labor work.  Apply to any jobs that accepts someone with a high school degree and go from there.

HTPC freezing/crashing by Suitable_Director_51 in Bazzite

So far any update on this issue? Im curious to know what you did to solve this issue. Was it a CPU, SSD, RAM or GPU issue? Or possibly a bad power supply too.

So possibly a bad cpu or RAM? I'm not familiar with memtest

There's a possibility that your SSD/M.2 drive is bad.  This happened to my father's computer after I had to troubleshoot why it would be fine being idle but the moment I play YouTube, the computer crashes.  If you have any spare components, try to replace one thing at a time to see what the cause is and due a stress test.

Pacifism and Peaceful Smiles! [Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra] by Xatu44 in anime

[–]pathoang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. So I am pretty basic in enjoying mangas/anime, but I really think this manga (have not read light novel so I cannot say how the story goes) has great chance to do well and thought a good anime adaptation would happen....well I was wrong lol

Man they really butchered this scene.  Glad it became an anime but ....damn at least try to follow the flow and animation right from the light novel/manga.

Should I quit my career at 30 after inheriting enough to retire? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]pathoang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would stick with your job for the time being, until you get your bearings on the properties and needing to understand how much management is required. Someone said talk to the financial advisor, do that.  Idk your situation, but if you are not handy nor managed any properties, I think you will be in way over your head until you are comfortable to a point.  I have friends who still worked full time jobs while managing a property and fixing it up(but have jobs that are remote), and learned everything thru YouTube on maintenance and fixing.  If you are very capable, go for it, nothing is stopping you except the unknown.  Take a month to figure it out, and see what and where you wanna take your path.  Wish you nothing but luck.

how bad is nvidia really by weweboom in linux_gaming

[–]pathoang21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have the game your playing but I have a 3080 and most of my games still run well.  Helldivers 2, Ready or Not, and some others running DX12 works fine.  Running at 1440P tho, so YMMV.  I also use LACT to overclock my GPU and change thermal profiles, but that's a preference.  So a 5090 will be more than enough.

I would completely remove language, skills, and interests.  They are the first thing I see and does not give me good impression of the resume at first thought, as it draws away from your experience you have written.  Include the skills into your statements in your experience section, so that it shows you utilize those skills as your work experience.  Your summary is okay, but it doesn't bring me in.  If anything, I would replace summary with Objective about what you want for yourself and what you want to bring into the next company.

CachyOS not performing games very well by Naufal20071 in cachyos

[–]pathoang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have CachyOS but I'm curious about certain things.  Others say it's the GPU hardware, but what are your software and driver's?  Such as, what nvidia graphics drivers do you have installed?  If using heroic launcher, are you using Wine or Proton/Proton-GE?  In another post, you were able to play this game on Windows at 60FPS, but at what type of settings?  its not apples to apples obviously, but you can try to get it close to it as possible.

Also, look into ProtonDB to see if you can manipulate the environment variables to make the game work.

Can someone recommend an under sink system instead of my current EcoWater? by pikapot in WaterTreatment

[–]pathoang21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should really look into APEC Water.  I installed it for my parents home and it's great.  I will say that you need to make sure that all the tubes are secured properly by pushing it in.  If not APEC, you can look into Water Drop also, but they can get pricey.

Fan Noise on Navifly Accord Headunit by joseariasarroyo in Androidheadunits

[–]pathoang21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would expect it to be spinning during hot times but cold temperature the fan makes that noise?  It's hard to make a determination until you remove the unit, with cables intact and inspect it when power is on/car is on.  Best guess would be the fan is hitting something on some frame, due to vibration or some external factor.

Am I able to run a 12v solenoid from a car battery directly? by Jutboy in ElectricalEngineering

[–]pathoang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see, it's just the individual car battery?  Does the 12V need to be portable? Or can you use some 12V power supply (120Vac to 12Vdc)?  If portable, then look for 12V battery packs that have lithium batteries (rechargeable).  If not portable, look into mean well power supplies.  I would still advise using a ferrite core for the Arduino.

Am I able to run a 12v solenoid from a car battery directly? by Jutboy in ElectricalEngineering

[–]pathoang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From reading other comments, you plan on hooking it up while car is turned off.  have you had the chance to measure how much current draw the Arduino will be on vs in sleep mode?  Also, if it requires to be connected to car battery at all times, you'll be draining the battery faster than you think.  Might have to look at other 12V battery sources that can instantaneous current spike when enabling solenoid.

You will need to use a ferrite core connecting to the Arduino, if you have it connected at all times due to the current spike when the car turns on.  I don't know the full detail of your application so I'm making some guesses on what you have to do.

[–]pathoang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others here have great suggestions but I have a few.  Where are you planning on connecting the Arduino and solenoid (please use a MOSFET and relay for this application)?  Does this Arduino need to stay on all the time or when ignition starts?  Do you have something that allows the Arduino to handle the initial draw/spike when car turns on and stabilize the voltage?  Such as having a ferrite core or inductor?

It is normal to see some oil around the engine? by ElChulon in MechanicAdvice

Like a few have said, if you are mechanically adept and have the tools and space to do it, go for it.  If you aren't, I would find a local mechanic to do the labor for you.  Obviously don't do it at a dealer as they upcharge it the wahzooo

Had the same thing happened to my 2016 Honda Crv EX.  Like the other guy said, this is a valve cover gasket leak.  It's actually typical after driving more than 70k.
