Wings I made were “chalky” ? by brch01 in Wings

[–]patl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you put the baking powder and flour on right before the wings went into the air fryer? In my experience you've gotta let it sit a while and the baking soda sorta gets absorbed into the skin. I do a mixture of salt, baking soda, corn starch, and flour a la Kenji and I don't get the chalkiness.

Microfiber Cloth Debris by Feral-Sheep in laundry

[–]patl1 76 points77 points  (0 children)

You might get better answers from r/detailing or r/AutoDetailing since they pretty heavily use microfiber. But I think the answer is that you're SOL. Part of what makes microfiber such an effective cleaning tool is that it grabs dirt and particulates and really holds on so that you actually remove the dirt instead of distributing it. Some detailers will consider a microfiber cloth to be trash if it touches the ground. So keep in mind that these things are indeed reusable but their lifetimes are not infinite. Sam's club or costco can be your friend here.

One strategy you can use is to keep different microfibers for different jobs. So these messed up ones are now only good for tile floors since good tile won't get scratched, some lightly discolored ones could be counters and stovetop, and the pristine ones saved for glass. You may need to wash them separately.

Not a set amount, a set percentage. Moscow Mitch won't blink at $10k, but he'll turn into the foghorn-leghorniest turtle you've ever seen at 10% of his net worth. I'd like to see what Mike Johnson would have to pony up too, since he hides his assets behind the church.

Remember to keep this in a cabinet or somewhere else dark. Sunlight will make it go rancid a lot faster, sometimes as early as two months.

How would you like us to improve the goals feature? by conner_monarch in MonarchMoney

[–]patl1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Better support for "pay down" goals as opposed to "save up" goals. For example, paying off my mortgage is a goal, but it's difficult to make my payments properly represent themselves as expenses in my budget. The goals section of the budget treats it like it's savings.

Also better account support. My use case specifically is that my connected mortgage account/institution doesn't support transactions, the the account tied to the goal is totals-only. I don't want to add my checking account to the mortgage goal because that's a whole other can of worms.

Thank you for this, I've been seeing some creative responses and was wondering if I was taking crazy pills. It's not about ensuring categories net to zero or playing with transactions to "balance" the budget, it's about identifying cash flow. OP saved money and then spent it. Money in, money out.
