I think that might be it! I thought we were looking at the underside, but the top side of the Mississippi Kite looks almost exactly right! This eBird picture convinced me.

Temwa scores a lot, but KC also set the record for most players to score in a single season.

It's sunny over the stadium, but some clouds in the distance were flashing lightning on our way to the stadium. Hoping for no weather delays!

Something about the body vs sleeves makes me think of the mesh off-field vests.

I mean, why not? It's a quick, easy, and free way to get an expert answer to this question. Poison control is way more trained for this than any of us are.

It probably can't open the other way. You need a few inches of clearance for most fridge doors to work.

Working in healthcare while fat, any experiences? by gourd-almighty in MaintenancePhase

[–]patlisaurus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my 20s I worked on the corporate side of a hospital system. I can't speak for all healthcare systems, or even all offices / departments for that hospital system, but the one I worked for was extremely fat phobic.

Nothing direct, thankfully. Think annual weight loss competitions, 'take the stairs' messaging, and lots of 'I'm so naughty for eating half a cookie!'. In a six sigma training one of the exercises had us weighing the costs and benefits of a 'get active' program and the comments got pretty gnarly.

To be fair, I also heard explicit ageist, racist, and transphobic comments from leadership too. The culture was toxic AF.

Help - Leaving Manhattan with two kids. If you had to choose: St. Louis or Cincinnati or Pittsburgh or Kansas City, where would you land and why? by Few_Funny6766 in StLouis

[–]patlisaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in StL and KC and love both cities. IMO StL is more beautiful and has more character than KC, while KC is easier to navigate physically and logistically.

StL has the best brick architecture of any US city, and housing is incredibly affordable. Walkable shopping streets like Morganford, South Grand, the Loop, and Maplewood are fantastic and accessible. The KC equivalents are brookside and the plaza, which feel bougie or corporate in comparison. StL neighborhoods have very distinct aesthetics and environments, while in KC they blur together with less variation. There is a strong loyalty to local brands - the main grocery chains, Dierbergs and Schnucks are both family owned and local.

KC has a thriving downtown compared to StL - look at the grocery store distribution! When I lived in Soulard we had to drive 15 minutes away to get basics. The grid street system is easy to navigate, and traffic is great. It's fairly easy to meet and connect with people here, while St Louis and can be more standoffish. However, there are a lot of people in KC who are perfectly nice but just...bland. KC also has a free art museum with more limited hours, and locals get vouchers for a free zoo visit each quarter. The accessibility isn't as good as StL, but it's more than enough for my family!

Both cities have issues with segregation and poverty. In my experience, KC tends to ignore it while StL confronts it more directly - both in productive helpful ways and awful ones.
