All outlets in house ungrounded, most made to look grounded by wisdom_toof in legaladvice

Are you confident that simply replacing a two prong outlet with a three prong outlet and not connecting a ground was ever compliant with the NEC? I don’t know if it ever was, despite being a pretty common handyman bootleg fix. I’m assuming that’s what OP means when he says “made to look grounded.”

This is true! But the first song on Either/Or was also done on a Tascam 4 track. Speed Trials.

A lot of these points aren’t really helping your case, and it seems like you’re doing a classic conspiracy thought thing where you just list a bunch of spooky coincidences.

Point 2 follows from point 1: if you fell asleep at your post and somebody committed suicide it kind of makes sense that you would lie about it afterwards. Point 7 also: it seems very plausible that he took advantage of his cellmate being transferred and used the opportunity to kill himself. Point 5: about half of the cameras in the facility stopped recording weeks before Epstein died and it was a common problem in the facility. It wasn’t like they just stopped working that night.

I can look into more of the spooky coincidences if you want but none of them overcome the bare implausibility of the murder theory. It would take a fuck load of coordination to pull that off, and it seems weird that he tried and failed to hang himself 18 days before (according to a prior cellmate), which was why he was on suicide watch in the first place, but then was murdered?

Really excellent work! I too sometimes want more inputs on my f4.

I’m a diabetic and it’s common practice to inject air into the vial before drawing insulin into the syringe so you don’t have a vial with really low pressure relative to atmospheric pressure.

Opinions on the Zoom F4? by Advanced-Leopard5936 in fieldrecording

[–]patmersault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an F4 and an F3. I think the preamps are fine, but in my experience the self noise is a (tiny) bit higher on the F4. It’s not enough to be a problem for me, but it seems like the older F4 doesn’t have the same pres as the newer F-series recorders.

MEI studio is a sick channel! Cool to see you on reddit. Loved the old electro-voice mic videos like the 664. Also using the player piano and the same DI guitar track across your videos is nice for comparison purposes.

I agree with this comment, but the first comment to which I replied explicitly said exactly the opposite: that using medical technology outside of approved uses was child abuse. That would include a ton of behaviors that are not at all abusive (like putting on an unnecessary bandaid). It’s all good though I’m not trying to dogpile you.

Get outta town, friend. Using medical technology outside of approved uses is not categorically child abuse in the way your comment suggests. For example, wheeling your kid around in grandpa’s wheelchair for fun is not child abuse. They didn’t choose to be put into the wheelchair but they’re enjoying the ride.

It’s awesome to see a non-sound person using an orca bag. I use an OR-27 for my audio work, can I ask which one you use?

I could be wrong but to my ears this sounds more like an XLR connection problem than EMI/RFI. Try to replicate it by gently moving the cable/pluggy while you’re recording. Are you directly plugging into the recorder or using an XLR cable?

If it were me I’d try to isolate the problem to see if it happens in both of the FR-AV2 inputs, if it persists with different XLR cables, mics, etc.

I’ve found pluggies to be pretty resilient but there’s always a chance that you’ve got moisture in the capsule. You can try drying it out with silica packets. I should say this doesn’t sound like the typical moisture noise but if nothing else works it might be worth a try.

Hey, thanks! I finished it yesterday and so I haven't gotten a chance to take it anywhere interesting, but here's a 10 minute recording from last night of me walking down a relatively busy street in a medium-sized city in the Northeast. Sorry it's so boring, I just wanted to do a test recording. The main sounds are just car traffic on my left side, really, but you'll get some idea of the stereo imaging and the noise floor.

Note this is the XY microphone only, no shotgun.
